Fantastic hotel with so much history. Very quirky and creeky love it. Food just yummy first class. Only one issue was the mattress was hard as rock not had any sleep and we nust have been above the outside door as it was bang bang bang when anyone went in and out.

Stunning old building, right in the heart of Grantham making everything we wanted just a short walk away. The staff were all very friendly and courteous at all times. £4 a day parking was a major plus point. Would thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful room (though light on towels and lacked hand soap) with a nice restaurant. We did find the staff to be quite curt and sharp, very different than the service we enjoyed in London & Paris. I recommend the accommodations, perhaps we just caught the staff on an off day or two.

I have stayed before and love the character of the building. It is a historic building, the room was really comfortable and the breakfast excellent - the table service complemented the character of the room.

Bar and restaurant staff, house keeping and front of house were all very good and clealy working hard to look after customers. On our first night the bed was both ridiculously soft and broken (215), no matter we were moved first thing in the morning without any issue - again, staff were brilliant. Second room (214), second night the 3am fire alarm was presumably set off by accident, no issue we got back to sleep. Sadly the bathroom had almost no cold water, no shower, broken fan, two lights out and no way to hold the window open.

Hotel is housed is a wonderful historic building. The breakfast room is splendid (as was the breakfast itself). My room was comfortable, albeit not as plush as the the room I had when I last stayed.

It was amazing the food, service from the bar the general ambiance, was really good but the bed ! Well my wife refused to get up to go to breakfast she felt so comfortable

Very old medieval and later era buildings. Only stayed one night but the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Carried our heavy bags through a labrynth of stairs and rooms. A chimney fire evacuated us in early morning but it was handle without furor and very cautiously. A big thank you to their staff.

A very good mix of old and modern. The beautiful old dining room and the bar are full of character. The rooms are comfortable and modern. The bathroom was stylish and spotlessly clean. I would love to have had longer to stay and enjoy exploring the area from the perfect base.

If you’re Gluten Free and looking for a wonderful place to stay, then this is IT!!! Not only do they have dedicated GF items on their menu, but they’re a 5-minute walk away from THREE great places that serve GF food! 1. Cinco Lounge 2. Prezzo 3. Costa Coffee There’s also two awesome antique stores within walking distance, and a farmer’s market! As for the hotel staff itself, the staff were nothing short of wonderful and very accommodating! We had fresh toiletries and towels delivered to us almost daily, and ordered room service multiple times without any issues. Didn’t have any of the 21 beverages so I can’t comment on that, but I’m sure they’re great! Most definitely looking forward to booking future stays :).

Ok but has issues
The hotel itself looks good, nice location and features. Let down by a very worn staircase and poor water pressure. There are a lot of stairs that you need to be aware of if you have mobility problems. The shower in the morning had no pressure, just dribbled. Bed was good. Rooms decent size. Plenty of parking round the back

Perfection, wonderful staff, beautiful hotel.
Amazing. Overnight stay as my partner had an early hospital check-in. Staff really welcoming and room fabulous. No sooner had we arrived in room than I said we would have to come back with friends and have a day exploring Grantham. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the hotel itself is stunning. Even arranged for me to place a deposit on towels from the room as my partner had forgotten to bring some and needed to take his own into hospital. I had breakfast after dropping my partner off and that was wonderful, served in a really historic dining room.

Great find and very pet friendly
We chose this hotel simply because it said it was pet friendly (we were travelling with our dog) and was conveniently located for our journey. We weren't expecting a great deal as the price was very reasonable and the hotel had only a 3-star rating. We were very wrong. Both the service and the food was comparable to a 5-star hotel (even superior to some!) and there couldn't have been more welcoming to our dog. This will definitely become a regular stopping point for us on this journey.

Slightly disappointing
Room very small, told i had booked small double, booking reference says Classic room, no mention on how tiny it was. TV only worked intermittently even when adjusted by hotel staff. Staff attentive, polite, informative.

The hotel was beautifully presented in the main guest areas & the meal we had in the dining room was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was fantastic. The only difficulties we encountered was the access to the hotel for vehicle pickup is only at the rear, via the courtyard which is very uneven with broken pavers making it difficult to wheel any luggage. The room we had was also very hot and the curtains difficult to manoeuvre in order to get any fresh air. Bathroom was beautifully appointed and a very comfy bed.

This hotel is superb, wonderful rooms in a historic building. The facilities in the room were excellent - spacious, comfortable and comprehensive in what was provided. The breakfast was first rate as well. Enjoyed it so much I am keen to return. It is my idea of the ideal hotel.
