Music makers' cottage

  • Welcome to the Music Maker. All the charm and lots of comfort, plus outdoor furniture too! This cute, comfortable cottage is located on Coast Guard Point (f/k/a Canal Street), the peninsula that forms the northwestern edge of breath taking Grand Marais Harbor. Take a stroll right out the back door to Agate Beach which is a short walk across the small sandy dunes. Cool off in the crisp clear waters of Lake Superior. Later walk or ride your bikes into town for dinner, ice cream or a little shopping. Then head back to your beach retreat and take in one of our famous Lake Superior Sunsets. Verizon phone service is recommended if you want to use data in the area, but the Cottage is now equipped with WiFi.

    So pack your summer gear (Don't forget the sun screen!) and head for a relaxing stay at the Music Makers Cottage in beautiful Grand Marais. This cottage is not a winter rental...sorry. Spring, Summer and Fall only.

Perfect location for exploring Pictured Rocks. The cottage is very cozy--we loved sitting around the gas stove in the evenings. We enjoyed the convenience of easy access to restaurants, coffee shop, and the market in walking distance.

The Music Maker Cabin

Cozy cabin in a lovely location. I am a repeat visitor and always want to return. The cabin is clean and has everything you need for a week’s vacation and is within walking distance from town.

Beautiful location

This was a great location, although we couldn't see the lake we could definitely hear it. The sky at night was beautiful with the Perseus meteor shower and the Milky Way putting on a good show.

Peace and quiet

Great location for all the Grand Marais delights. The house is cozy and we felt right at home. Could hear the surf of Lake Superior at night. Lots of great information shared by the hostess, in a folder, about places to see and things to do.

Cute little cottage

The property is close to Pictured Rocks, and just a short walk from the lake. We enjoyed the fireplace this time of year. Grand Marais is a cute little town. If you plan on cooking, you would want to bring your own food, the grocery store in town is very small. We had a great time!

Comfortable and cozy cottage

Not sure about property next door - No one was there so it was very private for us. Enjoyed the oil paintings and relaxing decor. The best was the wonderful beach and the variety of rocks - even found an agate! Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your special place.

Cozy Cottage!!

This rental was such a beautiful, cozy cottage on such a pretty beach! It was the perfect size for just the two of us and we loved the little wood burning furnace. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! The town nearby is adorable and it was so peaceful and quiet here. We will definitely be back! Susan was wonderful! The check in and check out processes were very easy. She even helped us out of a sticky situation late at night on our last night there! I would highly recommend staying here and checking out the nearby national park!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Music Maker's Cottage! The local up on the point and just over the sand to Lake Superior was amazing. Also withing walking distance to town and other beaches. The property was clean and as described, cozy and welcoming, but with enough room for 4 of us to spread out and have our space. Having a washer and dryer onsite was a big plus during a weeklong vacation. The main bed and mattress was super comfy! This location is within a real short drive of several waterfalls and hiking trails in Pictured Rocks, and not a long drive from Paradise (Tahquamenon Falls), Munising (Pictured Rocks boat tours), and Manistique (Kitch-iti-kipi). No complaints, no problems, and we would stay here again! Thanks, Susan.

October 2023 Stay

This was our second time we stayed at the cottage. Loved sitting outside by a fire in the evening. Walking along the shore of Lake Superior is always breathtaking. Liked that the hand held shower attachment is now available! Thought that the bed was a little hard for sleeping. There are trees growing against the cottage on the sides and also in the front in-between the pine trees. I would recommend taking these out for risks of structural damages to the foundation and in the front, the trees are around the power lines and could lead to power outages due to broken lines during storms.

Adorable cottage, has everything you need for a relaxing visit. Well situated for easy access to coffee shop, ice cream, the beach, and the shops in town. It was very clean, private and quiet, and just a lovely spot.

Susan was an awesome host. Grand Marais is a quaint town. I would recommend bringing most of your food as there are few restaurants and the grocery store is small. The views of Lake Superior are tremendous and the rock hunting is amazing.
