I booked the room through Expedia, which I normally don’t have issues with. The listing showed a pool and hot tub, which was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. After traveling around Australia, I wanted somewhere to unwind and swim other than the ocean, especially since the pool and hot tub would be temperature controlled. There was construction in the lobby when I arrived, which was fine and didn’t interfere with check-in. However, there were signs in the elevator stating the pool was closed for refurbishment. This was extremely disappointing, especially since other hotels within walking distance offered the same amenities for the same price or cheaper. Nowhere on Expedia did it mention the pool was unavailable. Even on the hotel’s website, you have to click through several pages to find anything about the refurbishment. Even the woman at the front desk failed to mention that the pool was not available. Had she have told me, I would’ve asked for a refund and had I known, I would’ve booked somewhere else, but since I booked the night before, I couldn’t cancel without being charged. I also booked an “ocean view” room, assuming that meant a view from my balcony. Instead, my balcony faced the city. There was technically an ocean view from one window, but it couldn’t be opened and directly faced another units bedroom and dining room which also took away from the privacy. Other than that, the room itself was clean, they provided toiletries which was nice touch.
