You barely hear ocean waves over traffic roar from Highway 101, screaming kids, barking dogs, & thundering motorcycles in the RV park immediately below, and the outdoor restaurant with loud drinkers. It’s all a unique dramatic view between the property and the Ocean!
Turtle Rock is an RV park of several acres right below property. Getting to the beach means walking at least ½ mile down the driveway, then through the RV park to the beach.
The “estuary” is a mostly dried up Hunter Creek heavily laden with masses of dead algae and little flowing water, not a true estuary with tidal influence.
At night we were lulled to sleep by 101 traffic noise, drowning the barely perceptible crash of ocean waves, especially punctuated by highway truck jake brakes.
Sunday morning coffee was to the beat of a tractor back-up alarm in the lumberyard below.
In the hot tub, it’s possible to see the ocean beyond the highway if you stand up or sit on the sides, a cold experience when wet. Vegetation not cut short enough to see much while sitting in tub.
When we had difficulty with the BBQ to cook our fresh fish, the owners said we could just go eat at a local restaurant instead of helping us.
The kitchen is limited to a two-burner hot plate and a countertop air-frier for cooking.
This location with its REAL ambiance compares to other locations at much less per day than we were charged! It is NOT a romantic, ocean view as a back to nature place to stay. Very disappointed!!!
