Staff all friendly and helpful but the room while clean was very tired. Also no WIFI I asked if they had any. Was told it was patchy but would give it a go! Nothing.

Good food. Having been here before for lunch we decided to return for dinner and stay the evening. Food was excellent, rooms rather dated and require upgrading but clean and functional.

Too loud
Stay was okay, except for the very loud event happening in the bar downstairs. No one told us this event was happening and it was very loud in our room until 12am. We were hoping for a relaxing early night in and this was not what we got.

The kirkhouse inn looked great from the outside. The bar area and reception was very nice. Unfortunately when we got to our room we found it was very unclean. In the bathroom it was clear someone had shaved and they hadnt even wiped away the hairs. Makes you wonder what else they havent cleaned when they dont even wipe away the most obvious dirt. Other than that the room was worn. The trashbags in the bins were dirty, you could see they had just taken the trash out of the bag and not changed the bag. The bed was the most uncomfortable out of all four hotels we stayed in and the bar was right underneath us. It sounded like the party was in our room. Also no wifi in the room.

Very bad experience handled very badly by owner
Stayed one night in Room 19 on 21/9/2023. Asked for room change next day which was agreed but when we tried to tell owner about the various faults as he should know about them, he accused us of being abusive, insisted on giving a refund and was adamant we should leave which we had to do. Unable to book any hotel within 10 miles as it was a Bank Holiday weekend. Faults were: No info re breakfast or meal times or menus or prices. Had to ask. WiFi in bedroom too weak to get on any websites so we couldn't watch TV on the laptop in bed. No TV in bedroom either. No mattress cover on the bed. Bed very short, about 5.5 feet long. Double not kingsize. No wardrobe. Grubby cupboard off the sitting room with rail and hooks attached to walls for clothes hangers. Very makeshift. Ceiling stained. No wall electrical sockets at suitable height for kettle. Had to turn the bin upside down on the floor and place kettle on that to reach the socket. Dangerous. General level of finish and decor very poor: Grubby broom cupboard as above; white paint splashes on bedroom wall painted a darker colour; sash cord cut and hanging from bedroom window; window paint poorly finished; black around sealant around bath; wallpaper peeling in bathroom; lumps of dirty sealant at the back of the bath taps; windows of bedroom and sitting room have obviously patched up ceiling above them where presumably some other curtain rail or whatever has been removed; dirty black/mouldy overflow to sink. Have photos.

Had a single night stay here after walking John Muir stage. Friendly and courteous welcome. Smart and comfortable bar area with friendly staff. enjoyed a delicious and ample serving dinner. Room was very comfortable, and clean and all facilities fully functional. Hot breakfast served by (different) friendly staff in the morning and a no-fuss checkout. First time stayed here but would definitely recommend and we will certainly stay here again when up this way. Thankyou to all at the Kirkhouse Inn

A lovely welcome- very accommodating by setting up a table for dinner with no notice. Lovely bar to have dinner. The room was very nice, grea sitting area also.

Staff were very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. HOWEVER.. There was a function directly under our room, although it felt like it was in our room! A relaxing night away this definitely was not. We were not advised of possible functions at the time of booking or even at check in. On a plus side, the manager was very apologetic and did not hesitate to refund our room rate when requested.

Refurbished. Excellent staff service and manners. The property has been repainted and is under new ownership. Nice homely feel and welcoming on arrival. Excellent value for money.

It is a lovely Hotel, close to Milngavie and on the road to the Trossachs. Ideal place to stay, rooms are perfect and food very good and reasonably priced. Have stayed on several occasions when I have been in the area. Huge carpark which is a bonus, and nicely decorated inside. Has a nice appearance from outside and inside is very spacious.

Stayed two nights. A very traditional Scottish hotel complete with quirky but friendly locals in the bar.We had a meal in on the first evening that was lovely with good sized portions. Breakfast both days again lovely. Would stay again if in the area.

The staff were excellent the food was first class. My only complete would be there was no place to sit to have a drink other than sitting at the dinner table. Otherwise no where to have a drink and chill out.

Let down at the end ...
Only stayed the one night and It was all fabulous until the following morning when I woke and realised there was no hospitality tray. Rang down just before 7am to be told by porter as I was on a room only basis you don’t get any tea coffee etc! I was dumbfounded having worked away all over the UK/Ireland/Europe I have never come across this before. He advised I rang after 7 & speak to manager about it, which I did. I asked if I could have a tray ..yes was the reply ..at a cost surprise surprise. When I asked if it could be brought up to the room please and left outside the door as I was still in bed the answer was no not possible she didn’t have anyone to offer room service till 11am so I would have to get dressed and go and pick it up from the dining room !! Lost for words I gave up ! It wouldn’t of taken her 2 mins to go up one flight of stairs and put it outside of my door which was right opposite the tip of the stairs. Unfortunately this left a bitter taste in my mouth having worked 16 hrs the previous day and having a well earned lie in what you want to do is lean across put the kettle on and have a nice hot drink without the hassle of getting up getting dressed going downstairs etc. Having said all of that I would definitely stay again as everything else was superb. Next time though I’d take my travel kettle, cup, coffee and milk for the morning :)

Good basic accommodation for the odd night
I stayed here overnight for business due to a bargain price. The welcome at the reception was friendly and my room was a good size although the decor was a bit dated. The atmosphere in the bar was friendly in the evening. I did not stay for dinner or breakfast so I cannot judge the cuisine. I have booked for a further 3 nights later this month.
