Excellent family run hotel. Food is exquisite. How all hotels should be. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Always stay here when rooms available which is not very often !!!!!!!!
Lovely hotel and gardens, second stay here. Spacious room with spa bath and really comfy bed. Evening meal and breakfast spot on. Sky sports & movies in room as well.
I don’t normally review hotels unless they are outstanding and this hotel was. Amazingly large room just outside main hotel. Ordered food to take back to room and couldn’t fault it. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Nice breakfast too. Would recommend and definitely stay here again. Thank you.
This was a charming, older property. The food and service were excellent. The only drawbacks were that the location was a bit out of the way, and the very large bathroom did not have a counter, shelf, or table for our toiletries.
This was a lovely stay with a tastefully decorated room with Sky tv. Ample parking outside and a lovely bar/restaurant where we had dinner, the food was reasonably priced. Only complaint was that the room was freezing as the heating didn’t come on to 6pm and it was 0 degrees outside.
Comfortable and clean; nice location near the Campsies. The conservatory/breakfast room looked nice but we did not eat here as were attending a family reunion; next time will try it. Couple wee things; no instructions in our room for the electric shower so took time to work it out; also first morning no hot water in bathroom sink but working again that evening. Very friendly and helpful gentleman on reception when we checked in

Breakfast
Room was a bit tired and needed a bit more cleaning round bath taps but comfortable.
Breakfast would have been nice with a few fresh croissants some of the food wrapped pastries were past their sell by date. But otherwise the food was good
The owners and staff were so kind, the atmosphere was cozy like a home (even though it was a hotel). The breakfast foods were abundant and high quality, with the option to have a deliciously made Scottish breakfast cooked to order. The owners even went out of their way to obtain non-dairy milk just for me! The electric drying rack in the room was handy when washing out a few items of clothing during the week. The beds were super comfortable. Sat TV temporarily wasn't working while I was there, but I wasn't in Scotland to watch TV anyway. The hotel grounds were lovely and close to a beautiful walking path. Highly recommend!!
I stayed for three nights with breakfast and had dinner each night. This is truly a “traditional” family run hotel where the standard set by the owners is nothing short of excellent. From the moment I checked in until the day I checked out I was made to feel more than a ‘guest’. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the on-suit bathroom perfectly proportioned and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was one of the best that I have had ANYWHERE and puts many 4-Star hotels to shame. The cooked breakfast is made to order and beautifully presented without a trace of grease on the plate. Cereals, fresh fruit, and fruit juice with an array of breakfast bars are available, together with preserves and marmalade. Toast is served and not just bog-standard bread. I had brown ‘seeded’ break, perfectly toasted. Tea was served in a proper tea pot and coffee freshly brewed. The staff at dinner were genuinely friendly and they were attentive without being ‘on your shoulder’ all the time. And the food was excellent and again, freshly cooked to order. All in all, I left feeling that my stay was as near to a perfect stay as possible. THANK YOU ALL.
The grounds of the hotel were well kept and the garden was pretty. There was plenty of parking. The reception and dinning area was clean and tidy. I liked that you could choose to eat in the restaurant as a more formal option but there was also the bar area which was more relaxed and had a good atmosphere. We ate dinner twice and both times the food was delicious. Breakfast was included with the room and there were several options including a cooked breakfast. I enjoyed the scrambled egg on toast.
We were in room 7. The room was small but we were only staying for a couple of days and was suitable for our needs. The bathroom had a sliding door so did not close fully and no window which was unfortunately causing some mould in places. The door to the room needed a firm push to close it. There was what looked like a water mark on the wall where there must have been a leak at some time. That said this part of the hotel is within an old building and the hotel has used the space as best possible. This room is above the hotel’s recycling bin store, there was no bad smells and the staff were not particularly noisy when using this area and we had the window open. The room was clean and tidy but just a little tired. I noticed the hotel was upgrading rooms and maybe this room is on the list. When we left, housekeeping was in the room opposite (no. 8) and it looked much bigger and generally nicer. Overall, I would stay again and all the staff were excellent.
