"Beautiful and comfortable home. The listing was a little incomplete so it was unclear exactly what we were getting but pleasantly surprised. One very confusing experience is they never mentioned an actual couple lives on-site and are the hosts. They came by when we got there and were very kind and accommodating. It just would have been helpful to know they would be there. The listing said it was entirely self check-in. "

"The Quinta Amala was an amazing place. The location with the view over the landscape with rice fields and pine woods was beautiful. Each cabana, house, had privacy and were souronded by beautiful plants and flowers. Beautiful architecture of the houses, the pool area, lounges and dining room. We felt close to nature, silent and relaxing. The food was also very good, including the breakfast with local food. The staff were all very nice and helpful and made us feel welcome and well taken care...

"Lovely, stylish hotel in beautiful, peaceful location. Generous breakfast and good- quality evening dining available, though there are also a handful of cafe/bar/restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. Staff without exception friendly and helpful, with good English. Very relaxing atmosphere. Anyone interested in birds, nature and ecology will love the lagoon reserve, with its varied habitats, and if you’re willing to walk a little, you can find huge stretches of glorious beach all to yourself - though beware the Atlantic swells if it’s windy. Half an hour’s scenic drive takes you down the coast to pretty Porto Covo with its cliffs, coves, cafes and gift shops, whilst beautiful Évora is a couple of hours away and makes a lovely change for a day out. Or just chill on the hotel’s rooftop pool/bar terrace and wander down to the beach if you want to stretch your legs. The lagoon is shallow, with no waves, so good for wallowing or splashing about with small people. There’s a lifeguard on the Atlantic side and warning flags to indicate swimming conditions. We loved it all…"

"Very relaxing , quiet and zen hotel. Room was beautiful and food was great everywhere including the breakfast buffet. I think the best part of the hotel is the beach access (sun beds included in the price). The only thing is staff could provide higher quality service for the price - they provided conflicting information about the resort facilities at points and didn’t bend over backward to offer transportation to restaurants/spa across the highway; and you have to specifically request them to pick you up at your villa otherwise you have to walk 5-10 minutes to the front lobby to catch the shuttle. We also asked them to book a restaurant for us and they said they were working on it and just never gave us a call back. Also note that you must make restaurant reservations in advance of your stay. There are 2 different hotel locations so the restaurants and rooms/spa are spread out between the two and you need to take the shuttle to get across the highway to the other location."

"Nice hotel with parking - compact rooms but functional. The restaurant is a true hidden gem and is undersold! The restaurant was the best meal we had in Portugal. The à la carte menu is well worth trying and the staff are so incredibly helpful. Generous portions - Michelin style presentation and absolutely delicious flavours. We wish we could go again. The breakfast buffet is also great! The underground parking us helpful and we enjoyed the spa. All in all a great stay."

"The outdoor pool was large and accessible. The breakfast was plentiful and also included a hot breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. It was a family friendly hotel. Rooms were clean. Slightly outdated hotel but we enjoyed our stay. Would return. Good car parking. Reception is 24 hour apparently."

"This was a lovely boutique hotel. Not very fancy but all the necessities for sure. The staff were very friendly. The bedrooms were spacious enough but the beds were hard as board. The parking was good and the location lovely for an afternoon drink on the terrace."
