A little Highland hideaway

This ground floor flat sits at the right hand end of a building that was originally a hunting lodge built by the laird who lived in Strathpeffer in 1850. The current owners purchased the property in 2004 since when it has retained much of its original charm, the two cottages were guest accommodation..

The property has extensive rear grounds that go down to the River Black Water, there is free fishing but very little salmon, Scottish Fisheries catch the Salmon as they jump Rogie Falls, however, Brown Trout is frequently caught in the River.

Some of the smallest birds in the UK can be seen in the grounds, with a good selection of Raptors, Stags, Pine Martens, Badgers.

There are beautiful views of the mountains and hills, the property sits within a 'basin' and is surrounded by mountains, & can be seen all the way to Ullapool, great for guests who are both social walkers & more serious Munro baggers.

The property is perfectly placed for travelling the NC500, for going out & about to visit the sights or just a quick stop over before travelling to the outer Hebrides or the Orkneys

Locally there are a number of Waterfalls, the Falls at Rogie Falls, 15 minutes away, were made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson who sat and drew the falls and put the picture in his book, Kidnapped, the main stone is still there to be seen. There is the Corrieshalloch Gorge along the road at 200 feet deep, Falls of Measach 15 minutes away, Castle Leod as seen in the TV series Outlander 20 minutes away, Blackmuir Wood 14 miles away, The visitor centre at Culloden Moor is well worth a visit, just to name a few local visitor attractions.

If you like 'scary' then you can visit Applecross with its most scary high roads, if you like remote landscapes then we are in the middle of moon like landscapes and scenery.

If you are on motorbike, then we sit on the third most popular European road for bikers.

Corrieshalloch Gorge shows the formidable forces of nature at their most impressive. It is a slot gorge, or box-canyon, cut by glacial meltwater between 2.6 million and 11,500 years ago. Through its narrow and steep-sided length flows the water of the River Droma, dropping 100m over the course of its 1.25km journey in a series of waterfalls, the most dramatic of which is the 45m Falls of Measach.

For many, the highlight of a visit is a walk across the bridge and the deep chasm below. Spanning just over 25m from ledge to ledge the bridge sways gently in the wind, providing an exhilarating experience!

It was built in 1874 by Sir John Fowler, one of the designers of the famous Forth Rail Bridge.
