The Shepherds Rest was our favorite stay during our 2 week vacation to Ireland and Scotland. Very spacious, clean and welcoming. Especially loved our greeting of the black labs, so cute!! It was an adventure getting to the place, but our family loves adventures and it was well worth it. Would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful family stay and everything we needed in the kitchen was included in the well-appointed, warm home. The views from the breakfast table are breath-taking!
The location was quiet and had great views of Ben Nevis. It had access to a beautiful walking path along the canals and was a nice getaway that close to Fort William and Glencoe.
It was a great surprise to my partner and Ilona was great. Brilliant suggestions on where to go and friendly as can be. We will definitely be coming back to the Highlands and staying again soon. Thank you so much Ilona!!! - B and D
Ilona’s cottage provided a cozy and comfortable base for our family of 6 for the 3 days we spent in the area. A beautiful property, the cottage is spacious, tidy and very well laid out - on clear days, we even had a view of the top of Ben Nevis! The short tunnel was exciting for the kids and grown-ups in our group. Ilona was wonderful and so easy to coordinate with. Overall, a charming stay that we will remember fondly.
Our family of two adults and two children loved our stay at Shepherds Rest. The mountain views are beautiful, the beds were cozy and we had everything we needed from kitchen supplies to puzzles and toys. It was a perfect base for taking the Jacobite train!
Beautiful home in a lovely part of the highlands. Very easy check in and out. Wish we would’ve had more time to spend here on our trip. Just be mindful of the tunnel on the drive in.
We had a great stay. Fantastic little house that was very comfortable for my family (including a toddler) for a couple night stay. The house was well equipped and very clean. Beds were comfortable. It was a little confusing initially getting there but I would highly recommend. Very quiet and great property.
Shepherd's Rest was the perfect home for our family's first visit to Scotland. The house was beautiful and comfortably furnished for relaxing and cooking. Ilona was a gracious hostess. She was so kind and understanding when we needed help with household things or travel assistance. I would absolutely recommend Shepherd's Rest.
Our family of 6 had plenty of space and was very comfortable st Shepherd’s Rest. The house was close to amazing hikes, but also grocery stores and civilization. Loved the owners dogs and the tunnel to get to the house. It was a lovely experience.
We enjoyed our short stay! We arrived a bit late and had to leave fairly early. Ilona greeted us and there was no real check in process other than walking in and picking our bedrooms. It is at the end of a private road but Ilona's directions were very clear. The property is spacious with large bedrooms, kitchen and living room. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of hot water for our morning showers. Sheperds Rest was wonderful!
We had a very short but lovely stay at the Shepherd’s Rest. Ilona and Gavin were accessible and very friendly and helpful, we especially loved the dogs who came to visit. The cottage was clean and comfortable and on a peaceful country setting. It’s a little tricky getting in and out having to go through the tunnel but it just added to the adventure!
This was such a lovely and peaceful place to stay while in the Glencoe area. It’s a cool location. Quiet. Nicely equipped house. Lots of light. Ben Nevis is visible from the back porch! For any dog-lovers, you will be greeted by up to three of the sweetest black labs you’ve ever seen.I would love the chance to relive this vacation again… at this wonderful home away from home.
We loved Ilona and the pooches. The house was great. The tunnel could be one of the scariest 5 minutes of our lives. The location is a wee bit off the beaten path, but everything else was terrific.
It was a really great spot for two families vacationing together. Nice common room size and a good bedroom setup. We even got a visit from the owner’s lovely labs! The only thing to be aware of is the tunnel coming into the property. It’s mentioned so it wasn’t a secret but it was a little nerve wracking since we were in a van. So just something to be aware of with car selection.
An beautiful property, amazing location and fantastic hosts!
Stunning walks straight from the door. We had an amazing week, the dogs were permanently tired with all the walks and swimming. The property was one of the most well equipped we have stayed in.
Will definitely return! Thoroughly relaxing. Thank you 😊
Driving threw the tunnel was a hoot and a bit scary the first time. It was well located to the canal, the train, and the mountain. We enjoyed our stay. What would have helped: explanation on the heating system, maybe a book on what is around to see, and the games didn't have directions and were in a box that was different than the board. The fireplace was lovely but didn't know where to get wood.
