"The experience was extremely disruptive and disappointing. We originally booked and paid for an oceanfront room in the towers in the beach, but in the middle of the night the fire alarm began making a loud noise continuously, making it impossible to sleep.
We were then told we had to move rooms at 1:15am, walk to a different wing of the hotel, across the marina and lobby, more than a 5 min walk away, and the replacement room was a partial intercoastal and partial ocean-view room, but a much farther walk to the actual beach than our previous room. After moving all of our belongings again, the air conditioning unit in that room was also making loud noises continuously, forcing us to move a SECOND time in the middle of the night to a different room down the hall.
At that point, our entire evening and rest were completely ruined. We spent the night dealing with maintenance issues and room changes instead of enjoying the accommodations and experience we specifically paid for to celebrate a momentous occasion in our marriage. I understand that issues can happen, but this was far beyond a minor inconvenience.
After speaking with a manager-in-training downstairs at the front desk, he waived the $50 resort fee and told us he would email or call us back for further compensation and never did. What started off as a lovely, last minute getaway for our anniversary, turned into a highly disappointing stay."
