Last Chance Pelican Retreat
Property is privately owned in a high end resort hotel. The unit is beautiful but certainly not up to the standards of the hotel as far as cleanliness. Mold, broken fixtures, stained carpet.. etc. Five days before the end of our two week stay we were told the owner sold the unit. The hotel expected us to pay them a daily rate on top of our paid reservation or leave. We were unable to reach the owner, but VRBO tried to intervene. Fortunately the hotel manager stepped in and we were able to stay through the end of our week. This event caused a lot of stress. Communication is key… The owner finally contacted us. He is very nice, but selling his unit while he had guests? Not ok.

2nd year in row here for our annual girls trip. Property is beautiful, beach is amazing. Everything is close by. Awesome view and beds are super comfortable.

Probably the most comfortable beds I’ve ever had in a rental. The unit was well laid out and nice. The bathroom could use a shelf or storage in the cutoff area for extra space to spread out. Since we went thru VRBO and not directly thru resort we weren’t eligible for toiletries and towel exchanges. Not a deal breaker. Chairs on beach are an absolute plus to renting and without the extra cost.

Amazing beach location close to Fort Lauderdale attractions. Teriffic view from balcony many miles up the beach & lots of boat traffic to watch. Food at facility was very good, but expensive (22% “hospitality fee” added to all checks and still an expectation for 15% tip). Room was comfortable and nice, but area rug needs replaced (dirty with stains), light bulbs were out and only two Kurig pods provided). Resort charges $50 per day for parking and $40+ resort fee at checkout. Location, view and staff top notch.

🌟BOOK HERE 🌟
THIS property is a 10/10!!! 1) COMFY BEDS and PILLOWS ( and I can be fussy ) 2) BALCONY space and VIEW ( CLOSE to ocean ) 3) Host Larry , ALWAYS responds with any questions:) 4) $$$$$ VALUE for your hard earned money ! ( no extra daily resort fees with this room) but you are treated like a “regular” guest and get to use all of the resort ♥️. I have rented this room three times already and I will rent it again 👍. Nice decor and very clean, it is a large suite with a nice big couch and chair, it also has a small table and chairs. I love this room so much and the ocean view is breathtaking 💫. This is a beach front hotel, parking is $$$. This is no fault of Larry or the resort. It is what it is, no room to park. Ubers and taxis are plentiful and we had zero troubles finding rides ( and cheaper then parking here for a week ). ENJOY this place is heaven 💫

Nice suite in a great facility
The facility is great. Pool and lazy river were not crowded and the water temperature was warm. The rear porch reminds us of the iconic porch on Mackinac island, complete with rocking chairs. The beach is clean and not crowded at all. Staff in all areas was very attentive and polite. The only area we were a bit disappointed in is the in-house restaurant. The menu's just seemed strange, intended for a non American palate, and a bit pricey. The suite is very nice but somewhat dated and in need of a deep cleaning. Dust and grime was observed in several areas. The refrigerator had a freezer section completely blocked with ice and the tray intended to collect moisture during defrost was filled 2" deep with solid ice. TV remotes need batteries and they do not operate most functions of the TV's. The fancy body spray shower is pretty much junk. The hand wand doesn't work and other jets are not much better than a gentle rain. We really liked the furniture. The beds were very comfortable. The "living room" section was inviting with comfortable seating and a nice sized table. If the owner would spend a week on-site, we bet he could bring this suite back up to the standard you would expect at a facility like this. The issues we've noted can be easily and quickly corrected, but, several of these issues have been noted by previous reviewers. I sincerely hope the owner takes note and improves this suite. It really is nice and deserves to be treated better.
