The property was pretty, the views were great, our room was huge, and, the bed was comfortable with a jetted tub. For those who travel here, it is great if you have a car or taxi as it is a 1/2 mile up a steep long driveway. I also suggest that guests bring snacks and beverages as there are none on the property and it is hard to find staff if you have questions.

Nella prima stanza non funzionava la vasca, nella seconda stanza non era presente il frigo bar come da descrizione, l'acqua della vasca e della doccia non arrivava ad un temperatura accettabile era troppo fredda, e anche il letto non era comodo, il servizio in camera incomprensibile ed incompleto. Inoltre la pulizia delle camere e delle vasche non era adeguata.

Hotel room doesn’t look like the pictures they advertise. There is no restaurant/bar or Pool and the staff is non existent. We heard the noise of dripping water from the toilet all night. It was almost impossible to get a taxi from this hotel. Will not stay here again and definitely don’t recommend.

The room was very old, which was basically to be expected...BUT also simply not maintained! That was really a shame. The smell was musty and damp and within half an hour we were completely bitten by mosquitoes. There were also a lot of little things that bothered us, such as the plug for the Yakusi not fitting, the hairdryer not working and the glass wall (the bracket was still there) of the bathtub was missing. The 190€ for one night was simply not worth it!

Based on the pictures and description of the property, we were expecting a well appointed property and room…..bit of luxury. As someone mentioned, this place is not as advertised! There is no restaurant, no bar., no pool and no spa services that we could see. The property needs some TLC, the ‘bar’ is non existent, the tables etc in the breakfast area are old and there are no comfortable chairs to sit in the garden. The rooms on the ad were taken at night with lots of candles on purpose….to make the rooms look way nicer than they are! There are some nice touches but the rooms come off as ‘kitschy’. There was no shower curtain on our tub that had a shower…no privacy. One last thing is that the description needs to have specific info on what to do when you arrive. The plate at the driveway does not have the name of the actual hotel and you need to ring a bell to get in. Two positives are that the bed was comfortable and staff were friendly (although hard to reach when you needed them).

Beautiful property/views and the host was so kind! The room was overall comfortable. I would say the only downside of the place was that the bathroom was not private. The shower was all glass and open to the entire room. The hot tub also did not work properly, when you turn the bubble jets on, pieces of dirt came out.

Very hospitable hosts
This family run manor is a charming small hotel. There is a lovely view of Florence from the roof top patio and the breakfast room. The service and welcome was warm. The rooms are set up for romantic stays. Our story though, after we had checked out we discovered our rental car key fob was dead. Enie, the owner of Montalbano spent hours helping us by calling the car rental company, being on hold, waiting for a callback, waiting finally for the tow truck. He brought us to the dining room to wait and served us cappucinos and biscuits, while he waited outside for the call from the tow truck. We were no longer guests of the hotel, yet Enie was so kind to us. This hospitality is the sign of true service.

The property was nice, it’s what to expect from a castle. We didnt have a shower in our room just the jacuzzi bath but the staff informed us when we got there about it. The staff was very nice and tried to give as much info as possible about the room and everything. There are no elevators so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs. It was expected though because of the age of the establishment. I does say they offer 24hr room service but when I asked about getting food or drinks they told me to walk to the town and there would be places open. Also if you plan to take a taxi out of there make sure you book it a day in advance as they said they were all booked when we tried to leave and we ended up having to walk to a nearby bus station. Overall it was a nice stay and as long as you know what you’re getting it’s a nice place to stay

Don't be fooled by the picture of beautiful facade at night. This is not what you get. There is a long staircase leading to second floor (no luggage help - but we realized why later). Small rooms with a Jacuzzi as the focal point right in the room. Rooms smell like toilet deodorant, cheap furniture. The attendant was surprised when she saw us, carrying luggage, having booked the place for 2 nights. Why? Because this is a dating hotel for a night without luggage. Our room was full of pictures of a "famous prostitute". In the hallway was a couple having wine. The woman was cheating on her husband with this man - we overheard her phone conversation. Crazy stuff! We did not stay, even though the attendant refused to help get a refund - she said it was not possible. However, if you bring a prostitute or you are cheating, this place is great, very secluded, private gait, no signs - full privacy. But if you are a vacationer, stay away.

The most beautiful castle I’ve ever stayed in
This was exactly what we were looking for. The property was exceptional and incredible. We also learned from an article in the room that Michelangelo had stayed there while Florence was being erected.

Les abords de ce château sont magnifiques : une belle allee, une cour d'honneur et un porche médiéval avec un jasmin extraordinaire. Mais à l'intérieur déception : Tout semble un peu bricolé et pas très propre. Odeur d'humidité dans la chambre, le lit confortable mais qui grince et beaucoup, salle de bain dont la propreté est limite. Et les trains qui ne cessent de passer ( la ligne de chemin de fer passe juste sous l'hôtel) et ne permettent pas de laisser la fenêtre ouverte.( heureusement bon double vitrage) On entend le voisin de chambre qui tousse, les bruits de couloir . Petit déjeuner très copieux et bon si vous choisissez la formule salée et une vague assiette de petits gâteaux pour la formule sucrée et malheureusement servi à l'intérieur alors que le jardin serait merveilleux pour un petit déjeuner. Pour rattraper, une magnifique vue sur Florence depuis la salle à manger ! Accueil bon, mais difficile d'obtenir un sourire de la personne servant les petits déjeuners. Bref, dommage, car le lieu est magnifique mais trop de choses qui n'arrivent pas à faire oublier les trains incessants et le reste.

I suggest this hotel be delisted on Expedia.This place was not as advertised on Expedia. It had no expected services such as restaurant, or any any food services, the room was were assigned was third class at best and the hotel was much les from city centre. We did not check in or stay at the hotel after arriving and had to find other accommodations for our stay in Florence

We were very excited about this place but after a long day in the museums of Florence it was difficult to find someone after letting ourselves in the front gate and trying numerous doors. They didn’t have our reservation. Because our reservation couldn’t be located, we didn’t get our requested room. Windows couldn’t be opened and we were hot. After a bath, our feet were black upon getting in bed because the floor was so dirty. The rooftop terraces have a wonderful view of Florence at sunset. Our reservation was eventually located but it was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience overall. I can’t recommend staying here.

Immersi nel verde
Quando si entra nel cortile di questo hotel sembra di essere in un’altra dimensione, si è completamente immersi nella natura, dalle finestre si può vedere un panorama di Firenze mozzafiato. L’hotel inizia a mostrare segni di usura, la vasca idromassaggio che avevamo in camera si vedeva che era un po’ datata e le bocchette erano un po’ intrise di calcare, la porta della doccia non si chiudeva molto bene ma sono piccolezze in confronto alla meraviglia complessiva di questo posto.

Midieval castle!!
Totally unusual hotel - inside a small castle. Very romantic but not for spoiled tourist. Do not expect a lift or ice vending machine. Still it is a great experience!

Florentine Castle
It was lovely staying in an actual castle. Located on the outskirts of Firenze it would have been better with a car. The rooms were decorated with a theme associated with people who have stayed there. Eg Mussolini . There is a meal supplied but only if you book 24 hours in advance. A pizza shop is apparently walking distance from the B&B. When it is fully renovated it will be a lovely venue but only for a stopover. Staff were friendly but not always available.

Un Castello magnifico
Immerso nel verde, un paesaggio e dei tramonti splendidi sono visibili dalla torre del Castello. Zona comoda e tranquilla. Personale molto attento e affettuoso. Le stanze sono davvero uniche!

Awesome experience, Great View!
Very Fun experience to have while visiting Florence! room was small, but view was great of Florence lit up at night! Easy to get to if you have a car, I suppose a bit of a pain if you are relying on Public transportation. I would recommend this place to anyone headed to Florence!

Wat een mooie, verrassende locatie, net buiten de drukte van Florence. Enige punt van aandacht is aanbieding van het ontbijt. Die is nogal onduidelijk en het ontbijt is niet echt top. Tweede ochtend was overigens beter dan de eerste. WiFi werkte op de eerste dag niet in de kamer, maar dit is direct opgepakt en opgelost door het personeel.

Amazingly beautiful...
Amazingly beautiful castle lovingly converted into a small number of hotel rooms. Quiet & hidden away in the hills over looking Florence, we had a car which made the trip into the city easy. We travelled with our dog who was made very welcome too! Stay here if you can, I will dream of returning one day!!

A little bit of history
This is the most fantastic place to stay, overlooking the most beautiful city in the world. Even if you get a room 'without a view', you can still enjoy the view from the terrace. We had a car, but the bus stop is at the bottom of the hill, directly into Florence. The history of the castle is as old as Florence itself. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We only had breakfast, which was very good, so can't comment on other meals. The staff are lovely. The outside of the castle might seem a little tired, but I think this adds to the charm. The rooms are relatively newly done, and the 'tiredness' did not follow inside, only with the guests! Really comfortable bed.

הטירה נמצאת על גבעה ליד פירנצה, מרחק נסיעה של 5-10 דקות באוטו ממרכז העיר (15-20 באוטובוס). מומלץ כמובן להגיע לשם עם רכב כי הדרך ברגל מתחנת האוטובוס לטירה לא קלה (גם עליה גם חשוך). יש אפשרות לרדת עם האוטו מהטירה ולהחנות בחניון חינמי שנמצא ליד תחנת האוטובוס שזאת גם אופציה טובה כדי לא להסתבך עם האוטו במרכז העיר (וגם לשלם על חניות) יש חניה חופשית בתחומי הטירה. הטירה עצמה מדהימה ביופיה, היא קיימת עוד לפני שקמה העיר פירנצה ובאמת מרגישים שחוזרים מאות שנים אחורה. החדרים הרגילים קטנים מדי לזוג. אז רצוי להזמין לפחות את החדר הזוגי דלוקס (כמו שאנחנו עשינו ברגע שראינו את החדר הקטן שהזמנו. קיבלנו את החדר של Beato Angelico שהיה מצוין). ברברה המארחת עזרה לנו מאוד, איך שפגשנו אותה הסבירו לנו קצת על העיר נתנה מפות והנחיות גם לגבי הנסיעה לעיר וחזרה ומידע על אוטבוסים וכד'. כל דבר שביקשנו קיבלנו. למעשנים קצת בעייתי כי צריך כל פעם או לרדת למטה או לעלות לגג. ארוחת הבוקר הייתה מאוד גדולה (הזמנו את החבילה שכוללת את כל סוגי ארוחות הבוקר), בהחלט ארוחה שתשביע כל אחד. החדרים היו יפים ונקיים ודאגו גם לסדר לנו את המיטה כל יום. כספת לא היה בחדר, רק מגירה גדולה בשולחן מעץ שאפשר לסגור ע מפתח. לגבי הוויי פיי, בטירה עם קירות כאלה זה נס שמשהו עבד שם בכלל חחח אבל יש קליטה סבבה ואפשר לגלוש גם בחדרים וגם בחוץ למטה (בגג אני חושב שלא היה קליטה כבר). סה"כ מקום בהחלט מומלץ אם רוצים לחוות את פירנצה בצורה היסטורית ויפה מאוד.

Ótima atmosfera.
O hotel atendeu muito bem a vontade de dormir em um Castelo. Gostei muito da iluminação do hotel, principalmente a do quarto. A vista para a cidade de Florença é sensacional. Muito romântico o Castelo. Funcionarios muito simpaticos, educados e prestativos. So recomendo o hotel para quem estiver de carro. Além disso, o hotel e rustco. Para mim nao e um problema, mas de fato não há elevador, o que para mim nao foi um problema. Ficaria novamente e recomendo.

If you want to stay in a Castle you will be happy with this one. The bed was just ok a little hard but fine. The owner was very helpful and spoke good English. Little hard to find without technology. Great view of the city from the upper balcony and our room window. Bring a bottle of your favorite drink. Yes I would recommend cool place.

Je recommande d'y aller si vous avez une voiture. Site magnifique, vue grandiose, hôtes sympatiques. Une nuit dans un château ancien rénové contemporain en conservant son cachet vieillot! La vue de la tour sur Florence et les montagnes est magique. Petit hic: le frigo ne fonctionnait pas, la lumière intérieure allumait mais aucune fraicheur. Salle de bain adéquate. Nous avons tous deux vraiment apprécié l'endroit et les gens qui ont pris le temps d'expliquer où aller en ville, où stationner pas cher etc...

Vilken service detta hotellslott hade utprintad lapp med hur man kom till bussen för att åka in till Florens, kostar bara 2 EUR att åka buss. Rummet var jättemysigt , lite kul med duschkabinen inne vid dubbelsängen :-). Ett jättemysigt hotell och receptionisten är väldigt duktig på engelska. Vi bodde här 2 nätter, gratis parkering innanför grind som man får nyckel till när man checkat in. Ringknappen var kanske lite ologisk det är den nedersta av knapparna- den man inte tror är en knapp alls men vi tryckte på allt möjligt vid grinden och fick svar så fort vi tryckt på rätt knapp :-). En lång stentrappa tog oss upp till matsalen och sedan var det en till trappa upp till vårt rum. Väldigt annorlunda boende- väldigt vackert- precis son Florens!
