Flaxmill Bay is a wonderful little beach - you can go paddle boarding or kayaking in the sheltered cove at one end, play with kids in the stream and shallow water or swim in the bigger surf at the other end. It has an incredible mix of white and black sand - the black sand glitters brightly, in swirling patterns throughout the white. It's gorgeous. Another bonus is the nearby Shakespeare Cliffs, which offer an easy 20 minute walk to incredible panoramic views of Mercury Bay, Lonely Bay, Cooks Beach, the Marine Reserve and its islands.

"We had 9 family members coming for the weekend. The property was stunning- a beautiful location looking over the beach,and only 5 minutes walk to have a swim. There was plenty of space inside and outside for all of us. "

"Stay was nice except for not having hot water (which was quickly sorted out by the hosts when notified - hot water switch being in locked cupboard). Its a bit if a walk into the town or to the beaches so we ended up driving."

The house was very smelly and had cockroaches everywhere. The dishes and cutlery were dirty too. The place is beautiful and few minutes walk to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Was a great trip away. "Although this property is within easy access to the beach and the river we found the bedrooms lacked storage space, the outdoor furniture was very difficult to manage as it is heavy, unstable and hard to move. Being able to spend as much time as possible outside is important for a family. We used the bar b que and found only 2 burners worked.
