The good: This home is absolutely beautiful. The hot tub is wonderful, and the game rooms and theatre room downstairs are lots of fun. Tons of DVDs and games! The house is amply supplied with cookware, dishes, extra blankets, and all the necessities.
The bad: Our check-in package (including our keys) was not at the front office when we arrived after a 3 hour drive. It was after hours, so no one was in the office. To her full credit, Sue from the office came down within 10 minutes of my phone call and got my packet out of the office. The downstairs HVAC may need some attention as the entire floor stayed very cold unless we ran the fireplace the entire day. The fireplace directions will not actually turn on the fireplace. (Luckily, we have a similar setup at our home and were able to get it going.) The coffeemaker in the cabin didn't work. I didn't call the office about this one because it seemed like a silly thing to make more work for them when I could just pour hot water over the coffee grounds and make a passable pot of coffee. The fan in the downstairs half bath made a near-constant high pitched chirping and tapping sound, which frequently woke me up during the night.
The ugly: This place has a SERIOUS bug problem. Some of the other reviews mention bugs, but you need to understand the full magnitude of this problem. The windowsills throughout the house were full of bugs - dead and alive. The big picture windows in the living room - full of dead bugs. I spent about an hour each day taking LIVE stinkbugs and wasps (which I am allergic to) out of my children's bedrooms. After the first night of what was supposed to be a 4-night stay, my kids refused to sleep in their bedrooms because they were so scared of the bugs. We are not talking one or two here, folks. We're talking dozens. The other reviews that mention bugs all have the same cookie-cutter response about "nature - loved and unloved - gets in... call us and we'll come vacuum them up again." Well, you'd have to give them a bedroom to stay in if you called them every time you saw a bug. This is clearly a known problem, and something needs to be done to fix it, either by the property owners or the management company. My husband and kids finally got so fed up that we left a day early, even though this is the first getaway we've had since quarantine started. To the credit of the office staff, they did refund the day.
I cannot reccommend this property and would not stay here again.
