Quiet and peaceful
The host/hostess made sure to keep us informed and to greet us when we arrived. This carriage house is very clean and well equipped. Found it very peaceful and relaxing. There is really nothing to criticize about our stay. I certainly would recommend anyone to stay here.

Quiet & Comfortable
We stayed here for three nights. It was quiet and comfortable. Just the two of us and it was more than enough space. Separate entrance to this above garage apartment which included a nice kitchen, great tv options for the evenings in, a washer and dryer if needed, and our own little enclosed yard and patio. Great central spot from which to explore natural wonders and close to local eateries and other amenities.

Perfect stay near the coast
Ideal guest suite for family of four, clean, quiet, more spacious than it looks, in a country road amidst big trees but still just minutes from several towns. Wonderful host Julia could not be any more helpful and friendly. I hope we can stay again some day.

Amazing little get away!
I stayed here with my mother and 2 children. Julie was super accommodating and the house provided everything we needed. Julie came right up to us and greeted us and asked if there was anything we needed. She even provided us with chairs, floaties and umbrellas for the beach. She also gave us ideas of what to do in and around the area. I would definitely go back next time I’m in the area. Thanks Julie for making our summer vacation wonderful!

Great!
Great communication and very welcoming! Our children were invited to use the trampoline and there were toys available in the home. Lots of room and all the bedding needed which saved us room in the car. Location is right next to Coombs and about 10 minutes to beach in Parksville. We had a great stay.

This property is very clean, quaint, quiet and comfortable and well equipped.Close to Coombs, Qualicum Beach and Parksville. I will definitely book this again if back in the area.

Perfect "base camp" for my mid-island getaway
I was in town for part of a 2 week photography trip. This cute 1br apartment was absolutely perfect! Julia couldn't have been a more gracious host. Everything I could have ever wanted was provided for me. After a few days, a friend joined me and she was quite comfortable on the couch. The grounds are beautifully manicured and the property was immaculate, comfortable, and efficient. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place to stay!
This is a great place to stay with all the amenities you could possibly want and more. Quiet, peaceful forest yet so close to everything! Host was very helpful and lovely! Very suited for a young family too which is not so easy to find. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Julia for a wonderful stay.

Excellent!
We were very happy staying here. Great location away from the usual noise but still close enough to golfing, restaurants, shopping etc. Comfortable bed and pillows and very peaceful for sleeping. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, cutlery etc. and the internet is very good. The owner checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was good. Overall an enjoyable experience. We would recommend staying here and we will return if we are in the area again.

Thank you for the lovely stay! The kids had a great time and it is so nice to be close to Parksville and Coombs without having to BE in Parksville. The carriage house is a gem!

Everything for a comfortable stay
Kids loved the Roku TV with Netflix. Nice and quiet country property 10 minutes from Downtown Parksville. Very safe and secure. Lots of extras not found in conventional hotel rooms.

Tranquility amongst the Trees
We stayed for 7 nights and wish we could have stayed for ever. If you are seeking a place to rest relax and decompress then Julia's self contained apartment is an ideal choice. Set amongst the trees on her property you are afforded with ample space and privacy. Julia has built up and accomplished a wonderful internal living space that really makes a vacation here truly special with all the amenities you need plus some special and very caring touches to make each guest feel welcomed. Access to Parksville is just a 10 minute drive, and for Errington and Coombs just 5. Her property is also located on a quiet country style road so walking and bike riding are also local options. At the top of the list is Julia herself whom we found to be totally gracious. If you want or need to chat and discuss she is readily available, or if you just want total independence then she will honor and respect that too. We found her to be a lovely person to check in with from time to time during our stay and we would like to sincerely thank her for making this such a truly wonderful vacation. We will plan and hope to re visit in the future.

Wonderful Surprise
When we arrived at the place I thought we were in the middle of nowhere because thats how it feels. It's all wooded and just slightly off the beaten path. However it's close to so many great places the location is actually perfect. The country market nearby is amazing and only 4 mins away. Jackie is terrific. We got to hang with her and the goats for a bit ant it was great fun. The place is better than as pictured. It's spotless, well laid out, newly re-done and has everything you might need and then some. There is a cute little balcony where we enjoyed some meals and felt like we were in a treehouse. It was a wonderful stay and if we come back to the area we would be sure to stay here again.

Centrally located... With goats!
Julia's hospitality was the star of the rental. We used the Gibbs guesthouse to explore Coombs, Qualicum and Parksville which were less than 15mins away. Our daughter loved the goats and the kid-centric details were a hit!

Warm and welcoming
Even better then we expected! The property is situated in a lovely setting and the carriage house is very private. The kitchen is well equipped with even more than I anticipated. The bed is super comfortable, which is very important to us. Julia is a warm and welcoming host and we look forward to a return visit in the future. We enjoyed meeting their goats they are so friendly and fun. Errington is a lovely community with many fun places to explore!

Gibbs Guest House

Amazing place to stay!
Julia was very accommodating and kind. She was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. She offered us access to her vegetable garden and berries. The property contained everything that you may need and more. She has an eye for detail! Above all, the place was super clean and tidy.

Quaint and comfortable get-away
I stayed at the Gibbs Guesthouse for a week-long "work away from home" get-away. It was the perfect location for serene and quiet work days at the kitchen table, while still offering lots of fantastic hiking and shopping close by. The carriage house is well appointed with everything you'll need for a longer stay, and Julia is a generous and welcoming host. Also, the goats are amazing - visiting with them provided all the stress relief I needed!

Something for everyone
Property was just as listed. Very tidy and clean all the kitchen necessities in abundance. Fully stocked with all linens and bedding. Stayed my with my teenagers and enjoyed the games puzzles. Overal will definitely stay again

Perfect for this trip
My family of 3 had travelled to the area with the intention to mountain bike and enjoy the outdoors. From the suite, it takes only a few minutes by car to get to Englishman River Falls, Hammerfest mountain bike trails and Coombs. Communication with the owners was easy, and they happened to be there to great us from a distance when we arrived. The carriage house suite has it's own little yard with deck and lawn chairs, and a hose for spraying off bikes. The pictures of the suite accurately represent it. Our daughter had a choice of sleeping on a blow up mattress or fold out cushions in an alcove under the eves or in the living room. She quite enjoyed having her own space under the eves (very "fort-like"). What the pictures don't show: A really well stocked kitchen (utensils, bowls, spices, oils, pans, coffee, sugar, flour, etc), beach towels for the summer months, and extras like bottles of water, a fruit bowl, a muffin mix, granola bars and microwave popcorn. Things to be aware of, but shouldn't dissuade you from a wonderful suite: no cable and the TV is not Netflix ready (DVD's, games and a Nintendo game system are provided). Secondly, the water has a distinct sulphur smell - especially noticeable when showering. Although this water is fine, the owners have provided a water filter on the kitchen sink and bottled water in the fridge. Overall, we loved our accommodation and are hoping to visit again soon in the sunnier and warmer months ahead.

Beautiful, cozy and perfect!
Julia is an amazing host! The property is in a great location. A very short drive to local stores and sights. Julia made us feel very welcome and can always be reached. She gave us the name of some touristy places to go see. Quiet neighbourhood and private. We will definitely come back to stay and we plan to tell our friends about this place. We loved it.

Great countrry getaway for family

Lovely getaway
I cannot recommend this getaway highly enough. Julia was a wonderful hostess, going above and beyond to make sure I knew about local amenities and grocery stores. My toddler and I were very comfortable, and were always excited to come back to our little house between adventures. Ideally located, beautifully furnished - the comforts of home, and the little luxuries that come from staying with a friend.
