This updated 1852 house along the Connecticut river was an ideal place to spend some time with our college student daughter. It’s away from the rat race, but it’s not isolated. It’s on an occasionally busy road that parallels the Connecticut river. The house has a great view of sunsets across the river.
The house is roomy and the kitchen is a real plus, with a nice propane range. There’s a great local grocer across the river in Haddam, and bigger chain groceries nearby. There are three different sitting rooms, which means plenty of space to spread out.
The house is a mix of new and old. Expect things like door handles, floor boards, windows, and stairs to be period. HVAC is an add-on., with window unit air conditioning in the summer. But there’s plenty of hot water, laundry, and good Internet/WiFi/cable. It’s a great place for us to stay.
That the current owner, who’s an awesome, highly responsive host, bought the place after staying in it, tells you all you need to know.
