Thank you for the review! Saint Francis House is located on 8th Avenue. It’s a busy street and there is some road noise. The benefits are the location is so great! You can walk to downtown, restaurants, shops, and the Horse Gulch trails are just two blocks away. It’s a comfortable house with lots of amenities, and have kept my prices well below market. Busy week
The house was charming, comfortable, and clean. The location was very convenient to campus and downtown. It’s on a busy road but that wasn’t a problem for us. We would stay there again.

Location makes for easy walks to downtown or local shops and restaurants. Very clean and nicely appointed and comfortable. Tavern across the street can be noisy and road in front is busy, but with doors/windows shut you hardly notice.

Short but sweet stay
My daughter and our two dogs came to Durango to visit my son for his birthday. This property was a perfect location within the grid and down to he street from my sons apartment. Very clean house fully stocked with all the necessities and super cute. The host Holly, was very accessible and accommodating. We would be happy to stay here again on our next trip to Durango.

Perfect Guesthouse in Durango
The Saint Francis House in Durango is in a great location; an easy walk into downtown, with a number of dining options on the way. The house came complete with everything needed for our 3-night stay. After skiing at Purgatory (20 minutes away) we returned to the house to relax with a glass of wine with cheese & crackers. All procured from the grocery across the street. Really a perfect location in Durango with great hosts, who left a bottle of champagne on New Year’s Eve. 😀

Winter Vacation
It was far better than I expected. I knew it was going to be great, but it far exceeded all of our expectations . I will be telling everyone who will listen about the St. Francis House. We take advantage of that 80% of the time since it beats having to drive and find parking. It's just the perfect VRBO located in Durango! Owners are very responsive if you should have any question or needs.

Cosy cottage in ideal location
We arrived in heavy snow, but heating had been turned on, and we immediately felt at home. Parking right outside; wholefood grocery and liquor store opposite, so settled in easily. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the bed firm and comfortable. There is a very efficient gas heater, but an electric fan heater is also provided. The cottage is very close to downtown Durango, and Durango is a great hub for all sorts of outdoor activities and scenic drives. We loved our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend it to any couple.

What a beautiful house in a perfect location. Holly and Ben are the perfect host. They really pay attention to the small details. Everything we needed was available. Comfortable beds to a coffee grinder for a fresh cup of coffee. The check I. Was streamless. We will be back!

Cozy clean well stocked house
The house was as described. Very clean. Small place but had everything we needed for a week of stay. The driveway can be tricky to turn around especially in winter and with a big car. The owners were nice and shoveled the snow. The washer and the drier are shared with the renters of the back room. Overall, it is a nice place. We would stay there again.

Family week
We spent a week at the house. It was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with cookware although a little short on plates. So we used paper plates. Initially I was concerned that the only source of heat was in the living room. But this was a non issue and we did not experience any cool temperatures. We will be returning to this house.

Great little place
I highly recommend this cute house. It is on a busy street but the noise was not bad at all. The beds are super comfortable and such cute decor. The owners were very responsive with a few questions I had. It is very close to downtown and super easy to get around whether it be via uber or your own car.

Great location
My husband and I enjoyed staying at this charming, clean property. It's just a short walk to downtown. Durango Joe's coffee, a health food market, and a great breakfast cafe are within one block of the property. Parking can be tricky when close to downtown Durango. This property offers private off street parking that accommodated our truck with no problem. Unloading and reloading our cargo was very easy thanks to the driveway access. As mentioned in the owner's property description, there is a tavern across the street. The noise from the tavern was noticeable until about midnight on only one night. We will definitely consider staying at this property again.

I booked this place because it was originally listed as having 4 beds & my brother & I & 2 friends were riding motorcycles to Durango. It has 2 beds & a fold-out couch. (Thank God my brother cancelled.) Upon inquiring about the back bedroom we saw being cleaned when we arrived that was now behind a locked door, we were told that was a separate rental & we could use it only for an extra charge. When I asked about the 4th bed (one bed in each BR, one couch in the LR is all we saw) I was told "the VRBO system listed the pack -n- play as a bed" & the owner sent images of the bedroom descriptions from VRBO, you know, in case I couldn't look that up myself. Really? My 2 year-old grandson has outgrown his pack-n-play. The WiFi description was wrong so I had to ask for that. The emailed instructions had the door code but also said to call/text for it? The shower sprays out the door onto the floor when you turn it on & the bathroom sink spigot flops around loose. Who plumbed this place; a high school kid? Honestly, it was adequate. But, the place is clearly an operation that the owner doesn't really pay any attention to & just collects money for without really caring about details.

Convenient Location and Responsive Host
The location was convenient. The layout works well for the smaller space. The parking is a bit tricky especially if there is another person staying at the other rental. We had three different people stay there during our duration. One family was very respectful of the parking, but the other two took our other designated spot. The host was super kind and addressed it with them. Whenever we needed something or had a question the host was very responsive, which we appreciated.

Perfect location close to Fort Lewis

Clean, close to town, best for short stay
We really enjoy renting from Holly, the owner of this property. She is very responsive and accommodating. Internet quality was great and the property is very close to Horse Gulch trailhead and walkable to several restaurants nearby and we took advantage of that. This was the first time we stayed at this house and we were there for 3 weeks, working remote with a small dog. Which for this location was not ideal. The yard is fenced, but very small. The location is off a busy street and across from a bar, which during COVID has its windows open and was loud at night. I can see this location being better for a shorter stay or for someone not trying to work remote. We do plan to rent from Holly again, just at a different location.

Lovely spot, lovely host.
I am so very pleased with my stay; Durango is my hometown, and I came back to bury my parent's remains as they requested. I held a small lovely memorial for them, and Holly was so wonderful and understanding! This cottage is very old-time Durango, and so perfect. I had anticipated my son being there but he could not make it; it would have been perfectly comfortable for a small family or a single as I was. Clean, adorable, comfortable, and close to any part of town. I will stay again and recommend this property owner any time. Thank you!

Clean, convenient, but no A/C even though listed to have one.
Was very clean. Yard is very small. Tavern across the street was a little loud on weekend nights. No a/c, gas stove for heat looked good. Kitchen lighting wasn’t so good, owners need to replace track light over sink, as 3 out of 4 lights were out. It was very clean and convenient to everything.

I’m glad you enjoyed the house. There is a very nice new and powerful A/C unit in the living room that cools the house effectively! I blast it while I’m cleaning and get good and cold. I sure wish you would have asked as I could have showed you how to use it.

Good location to walk around Durango. Enjoyed the kitchen, gas stove, and bedrooms in this little house with my family. Our 4 legged members appreciated the yard and the walks to the open space on the Mesa behind the house. Would stay again.

Great stay at St Francis house
My friend and I absolutely loved this house. There were so many wonderful amenities..couldn’t have wanted anything. We loved sitting out on the private porch at night after a day of hiking and walking into town for dinner and entertainment.

Nice two bedroom house in Durango
This is a nice two bedroom house. It is shared with another rental in the back. Shared driveway (a little tight if there both vehicles are SUVs) and washing machine and dryer (in a shared space between the two rentals). Has a window A/C unit which was nice because it was warm when we were there. A little far from downtown to walk so we drove into town (Main Street). There is some free parking close to Main Street on weekends and after 5 during the week.

We really enjoyed our stay at St. Francis house. We drove in from Texas to see our kids and this location was perfect for us. Walking distance to the market & coffee house. Nice view of the mountain from the front porch. Good kitchen, laundry room, comfy beds and I loved that there were plenty of linens. Plenty of entertainment choices on the tube after a long day of exploration. The Aveda products were a nice treat! We would definately stay there again.

Charming house with a gracious host
This sweet little house is just as described/pictured. It’s thoughtfully furnished, comfortable, and very clean. Holly was responsive to any questions, and it’s so nice to have a pet-friendly option! The house is on a busier street and I was initially concerned about noise at night (I’m a light sleeper), but everything quiets down very nicely in the evening. We happened to visit Durango in between snow storms, and I was VERY pleased to find that the driveway was shoveled (as well as the sidewalk in front of the house). I really feel like this indicates a nice consideration for the safety and comfort of the guests, and it was a welcome change after we stayed in a different Durango rental last month and had to deal with a treacherously icy alley and driveway. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location, cute place.
We visited Durango for a bike race and this place was in a great location. Easy access to the MTB trails almost right outside your door and a quick walk to the restaurants and bars of Durango. Very well kept and great accommodations. COOP grocery right across the street and coffee shop just around the corner. Everything you need was close by. We didn't have this problem, but I could see if you had an oversized vehicle (Sprinter Van, Large truck) parking might be tight in the driveway, Offstreet parking is easily accessible though. I would highly recommend!

Comfortable oasis while visiting Durango
The house is decorated with a wonderful aesthetic that pays homage to the historic background of the area and the comforts of modern life. The furnishings are all tasteful and thoughtful. There are lots of nice touches, nice linens, soaps and pantry. Pretty bath and well appointed kitchen. There is a shared laundry with large capacity high end machines. We brought our fur baby and were happy there was a small yard and "run" in the front yard. As others mentioned the house is on a well used street, but there are trees and shrubs in front of the house - so the street is not easily seen. There is not much traffic at night. We slept in the back bedroom and didn't hear a sound. The house is incredibly well situated for visits to Mesa Verde and the Durango Silverton train. We had a great time.
