With family living nearby, cabin was in a good location that allowed for easy in and out throughout our stay. We do hope it works out to stay in future trips to visit family.
We had a wonderful time here on a quick overnight for the Big Mick bike ride. Comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen, nearby grocery permitting a relaxing dinner at home. Everything clean, nice, perfect. Thanks for opening your lodge to us.
Cleanest VRBO I have ever stayed in!! House is beautiful and very accommodating. Home had everything we needed and the ambiance was perfect! Would highly recommend this home!
Awesome location for sturgis trip close to all beautiful sites
This was our second year staying at This house and its a beautiful house and the communication with the property owners is great. Super clean and close to everything you will want to see in South Dakota.
Second time staying at the Ponderosa! House is very clean, lots of space, and cozy! As always, communication is great and the home is very welcoming with some history!
The Lodge was everything we hoped for. Plenty of room for our family, great views, and conveniently located close to town. Preparing S'mores at the fire pit was a hit for the kids. We also enjoyed the playground nearby, the bike path, and hiking trail up Custer mountain. Definitely a great place to have a family gathering and enjoy all of the activities available at Custer State Park.
The house was clean and just as advertised. It was a great location for visiting Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and Rapid City. We were able to cook our meals in the fully stocked kitchen. And we were able to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from the porch as it was fired from across the street.
Stayed at Ponderosa Lodge and 2 cabins. Very clean and very comfortable for our group of 12. Outside property is well maintained. Crystal accommodated us very well. If we ever go back to Custer we would stay at Ponderosa Lodge again.
Amazing place. The house was perfect for all of us to fit easily and the location was better than expected. An easy distance to downtown to walk or drive and get to the grocery store. City park close by also. The house was very clean and accommodating. I would come back again.
We stayed at the Custer house for the beginning portion of our West adventure. It was exactly what we were looking for - close to the attractions we were interested in (Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Crazy Horse Memorial). It is in easy walking distance to downtown Custer and we enjoyed walking to dinner. The house was clean and easily accommodated our crew of 9. Highly recommend!
This is our second year in a row for staying in this house. The house is very nice, very clean, and well stocked with most anything that you would need. There’s a nice big table for dining and a comfy covered front porch for hanging out, eating a meal, or just enjoying the evening as it cools off. I would definitely recommend this home.
This property served our southern Black Hills girls getaway perfectly. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, etc. It was cool enough to enjoy the fireplace. We appreciated the proximity to Custer State Park during the day and the closeness to a variety of restaurants at night. Great sheets and comfy beds. One extra hair dryer for each floor would have been great.
Loved your property and thank you for your excellent communication. I would stay here again for our second night in the park instead of the State Game Lodge. What a difference in how we were treated! Thank you again!!
The accommodations were terrific. The location near the store and the trail can't be beat. The kitchen cooking area is fairly small, but adequate (appeared to me to be bigger in the photo - damn old eyes ;<} ) We would all gladly return to the Lodge at Ponderosa Place. Lots of creeks in the floor which adds to the mystique of the place. No place is perfect so, if your looking for a convenient place, nice clean accommodations, and warm showers (plenty of hot water) - THIS IS THE PLACE. We enjoyed it - hope you do, too!
We were very impressed. The kitchen was well equipped for making meals - you bring the food, of course. The downstairs had central AC but the upstairs was a little warm at night. There was a portable AC unit for one room and some fans but might be a little uncomfortable on hot days/nights. The temps were pretty mild during our stay. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
This historic home is well cared for and seems to be in a safe and quiet neighborhood. It is also within an easy walk to downtown Custer and the local grocery store, Lynn’s. It was in a very convenient location for exploring Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, the Mammoth Site, brewery and winery. Numerous good restaurants in town as well….for a meal or just dessert. Everyone in town was extremely friendly. We were only 2 couples, but there is plenty of room for a larger family. The owner was very responsive to our questions and requests. Would stay here again if ever back in the area. Be sure to check out the shadow box hanging in the main level hallway displaying artifacts found in the walls of the house during renovations.
