Overall the property was clean...except for all the dead flies in the window sills. Instructions indicated additional towels and linens were in the closets but all closets were locked, save for one which contained a vacuum cleaner, some pillows and boardgames. So we made due without washcloths. There is a washing machine and clothes dryer there, but you can only use the dryer. This is not clear in the online listing.
Also the wood burning stove was not functional. I called and was told it was broken, but the next day the owner came and "started it up". He told us just to keep it running on low (it burned wood pellets - an automated system) because it could be problematic to restart. Unfortunately it got too warm inside so we had to turn it off. Lastly there were no written instructions. This is the first VRBO we have stayed at that had no instructions as far as how to operate the wood-burning stove, how to operate the TV/DVD system, etc. I called about playing a DVD and the woman told me she didn't know how to do it, but that the folks who stayed there prior to us figured it out after an hour or so! Sorry but I am not that tech savvy.
So overall the beds were comfortable, the place was pretty clean, clean linens and towels (although sparse). Communication with the owners was easy (always answered phone or returned calls - which was very much appreciated) but my problems weren't really solved. We did however really enjoy the outdoor firepit on the cool autumn evenings.
