This is a beautiful, very spacious old home that has almost been totally updated. Was very surprised to see that the master bath has a walk-in shower - a welcome sight for a gimpy old lady. On the other hand, about the only thing not updated is the old tub in the other bath. It would be difficult for some of us to “ climb “ in and out of it , and it has seen better days. It has, however, been retrofitted to serve as a shower as well.
A word of caution to those with mobility issues : there are a number of varying floor elevations throughout the home - none very steep, but a possible trip hazard for some. Having said these things, we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend. The home is very comfortable and family friendly. There’s a beautiful kitchen and areas to spread out and relax. Your host is very generous with snacks and beverages - more than any place we’ve previously stayed.. There’s a large back yard.
The location is at the edge of downtown steps from a fairly busy street. There are trains passing frequently which bothered a few of us. Having grown up near RR tracks, I enjoyed it myself. Our 15 year old grandson was fascinated with the construction of the house and the architecture of it and many of the surviving old buildings in town. The 11 year old enjoyed the yard, porches and goodies.
I highly recommend the home and the town, as well as several nearby small towns . Good food and friendly people to be found - a welcome slower pace of life . We hope to return .
