About this property
Lamplight Cottage, easy walk to Main Street!
Beautiful, cozy home built 1940, just two blocks from Main Street and a half-mile from MSU campus. Large living room with wooden archway into dining area, with original, refinished wooden floors throughout. In walking distance of over 16 restaurants, a coffee shop, a bakery, the library, and shops on Main Street. Convenient location for graduation, MSU sporting events, and Starkville community events.
The Master Bedroom has a king-sized bed with a Tempurpedic mattress.
The 'Birmingham Room': yes, this is Starkville, but we started our family in Birmingham, Alabama, and have included several Birmingham 'touches' in this room, which has 2 full beds.
The 'Palmeiro Room' was rented by MSU baseball legend Rafael Palmeiro when he was a student here and has 2 twin beds.
The Reading Nook is a study off the living room that is perfect for those times when you are looking for a quiet space to read, work, or make a phone call.
The Kitchen is large and equipped with essentials for cooking and hosting. The 'coffee corner' includes coffee, creamer, hot teas, and hot chocolate. Help yourself to any food you see.
The Dining Room features a beautiful table that seats 6 with a bar that seats 2.
Family Fun: Several games and children's books are included in the living room and bedrooms. There is cable TV in the living room and master bedroom.

About Starkville: Starkville is a lovely small town who is proud to be home to Mississippi State University. Our neighborhood, Oktibbeha Gardens, is one of the closest to campus. It is also extremely close and walkable to downtown (that is why we initially bought the home!). There are a variety of excellent restaurants nearby, including Southern BBQ, Soul Food, Thai Food, Indian Food, and locally-owned Starkville Favorites! We love to eat and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences.

The house was just as described. The setup was perfect for our family of 6, which included 4 teenage boys, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It was an easy walk to campus and to restaurants and downtown Starkville from the house. The owners were great from reserving the house to check out, and answering any questions we had
Definitely hope to stay here again.
It was a cute older home near downtown yet a quiet street. All 1 floor with 3 steps to enter which was important for my elderly mom who stayed there with us. Modern updates, 2 full bathrooms. Very clean. We were there with family for graduation at MSU
Great Location and lots of room for Graduation weekend
We booked this house for our daughters graduation weekend. The house had lots of room for us and her friends to come by and hang out for the weekend. It was very clean and as advertised. We actually walked to campus and back one afternoon - about a 15 to 20 minute walk. I judge a place by its hot water, and we all were able to have hot showers in the evening without waiting in between. The hosts were super easy to communicate with and took care of all of our requests. We would stay here again.
Very sweet home walkable to downtown. Comfy beds and beautifully decorated with fun art and antiques. Great floor plan for a group with room to spread out or gather.
This house is very lovely and perfect for family get together stay. It’s clean, comfortable and spacious. The owner is very quick on responding and provide excellent service. Will definitely highly recommend if you are looking for a place to just relax, hang out with family, play games, and spend quality time.
Loved this historic brick home located close to the cotton district and MSU campus. Katie the proper manager was quick to respond and very accommodating. Hope to visit again soon!
Our stay was terrific! Group of 7 of us in town to go to the MS St game. Katie was incredibly accommodating, and the house was clean, spacious, and in a very convenient location!
Thanks, Katie!
We made the trip to Starkville for some Mississippi State baseball with our soon to be freshman son. Great spot, walkable to restaurants and even campus if you’re up for it! Driveway is steep and house definitely has historic charm. We had a few minor concerns however Katie was quick to address them personally in a prompt and professional manner. Looking forward to working with her again in the future.
The stove’s pilot light went out, but that was a quick fix. The larger problem was no AC. The owner gave us fans to get us through the night. AC repairman fixed it first thing and saved our weekend. Thanks Mrs. Buys for responding so quickly and making it right.
We met family in Starkville over the long Thanksgiving weekend and made some great memories at Lamplight Cottage! A huge kitchen, table and bar to seat 10+ (there were only 7 of us at lunch but plenty seats!), cable for watching the Dawgs bring home the Golden Egg - couldn't ask for a better day!! Two full bathrooms! Three bedrooms - two with extra beds! So much space for the money. The driveway was a bit steep and narrow so if you have a big truck go slowly but it opens up to ample parking and a private backyard space! Close to everything, all amenities provided! It was like staying with family during our visit. Hope we can stay again soon.
The locator this property is great with plenty of parking in the back. Everyone said how comfortable the beds were (love the memory foam king bed). Showers were hot with great pressure. Living room was cozy and comfortable - tv worked well. Hose was very spacious - would definitely stay again!!
We were a group of seven that came in for MSU Graduation. We are from New Jersey. We wanted a house with enough beds to accommodate grandparents and family. The house was more than big enough. We never felt like we were on top of each other. Katie was more than accommodating and made the entire process easy. We would stay here again.
The house is older but has a really cool vibe! Reminded me of my Grandfather's house in Fernandina Beach, FL. Very clean, large rooms, big back yard area. Suited our needs perfectly for a Florida/Miss St baseball series weekend. Close proximity to the Cotton District and campus for great dining and beveraging experiences! Definitely worth the $$$
The property is an older home but is updated with everything you need plus it has personality and charm. It was fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishes and really made you feel at home and also has plenty of parking The owners are wonderful, and the house has that ambience.

Nice and comfortable place to stay in Starkville. Very close to everything.
Enjoyed visiting with our son during MSU fall break. This house was very comfortable and centrally located to everything we needed. The owner was warm and welcoming! Truly, a hidden gem.
Spacious lovely get away for a large family. Located close to campus and charming down town Starkeville. Hostess has decorated with beautiful artwork and created a warm inviting place to stay. It was so much better than a hotel. I am so thankful we stayed there!
