エアポートタクシーが来ない

「エアポートタクシーを手配出来る」というメールが予約後に来たのでお願いしたが、空港に現れず電話連絡した所、「間違えた、そこでタクシーを使ってくれ」で結局一般のタクシーでホテルを探してからようやく到着したら、誰もいなく大声で呼んだり歩き回ると床で寝ている従業員が。エアポートタクシーのミスも従業員に連絡してないのが分かり最悪の気持ちで過ごした。

汚さが目立つかも

部屋に入って早々ゴキブリと大型のクモと遭遇。安さ重視で選んでるからしょうがないと割りきるが、スリランカ滞在中に宿泊した4つの同価格のホテル中で私的には最下位。やっぱり清潔さが欲しいなー

普通の3星、駅近くリーズナブル。古いが価格は相応。コスト重視ならOK.メインステーションはもう１駅行かないと行けません。歩いたらまあまあ遠い。周りには何もない。

快適な部屋。おいしい食事。鉄道利用でどこでも行ける。

空港から街中まで来て、市内公共バス(174番：要確認）に乗り換え、BusStopから歩いてすぐのところにあった。MaradanaRailway（マラダナ）鉄道駅から2～3分の位置なので、マラダナ駅を目指せば空港からバスでこれる。旧市街観光地区Fort(フォート)駅へも1駅。フォート駅出て左手に行くと旧市街、オールド･ダッチ･ホスピタルやワールド･トレード･センター。右手に行くと空港へのExpressBus(国営:１時間に1本・民間Bus多数。国営バスセンターの反対側）の乗り場のあるセントラルバスセンター(ペター市場隣)に歩いていける。フォート駅より列車で先に行くとRiverty他のShoppingMall近くの駅へ行ける。新市街は海岸沿いに発達。旧市街は全般にさびれているが、このホテルは鉄道を利用してどちらも便利に行ける。ホテル室内は快適。古いが設備は整って綺麗で、くつろぐことができる。かつては栄えた高級ホテルのイメージ。部屋前に座る椅子があり、中庭を見ながらくつろげる。機材の手入れはしっかりしていて綺麗。ホテルのレストランは、良心的な値段でおいしい。従業員は親切でfriendly。コロンボに来るならまた泊まりたい。

素敵な雰囲気

外観はそうでもないのですが、一歩中に入るとコロニアル調の雰囲気のいいホテルでした。大通り沿いの部屋はうるさいとあったので、反対側の部屋をお願いしました。静かで良かったです。

ご飯に苦労するホテル

コロンボフォートの隣の駅マラダナ駅に近いホテルです。値段がまず高いです。部屋は値段相応の設備でそこそこ快適ですが、ホテルの周りは自動車関係のディーラー・部品屋・修理工場などの自動車街で雑貨屋・コンビニ・レストランが全くと言っていいほどありません。仕方なくホテル内で食べました。味はまあまあです。ここに泊まるならもっとフォート駅に近いところか、逆にペターとは反対側に泊まった方が楽しめると思います。トランジット泊にしても不便です。マラダナ駅は電車の終点に設定される事が多いので電車を頻繁に利用する人はいいかもしれません。・・・が不便です。スリーウィラーはほとんど場所を知っています。

駅に近くて便利で快適

ホテルの入り口にはボーイがいるので安心でき、スタッフも親切。ただ、徒歩圏内にあまりレストランがないように思われるが、ホテル内のレストランは値段も手頃で美味しかった。

大通りに面した静かなホテル

フォート駅から歩いて行ける距離にある。受付は非常に親切で、紳士的。前払いの要求はなし。初め往来の激しい大通りに面した部屋を当てがわれたが、部屋を変えてもらった。廊下の反対側の部屋は広く、非常に静かだった。シャワー・トイレも悪くない。ただエアコンが旧式で、温度調整は困難だった。朝食にアメリカン・ブレックファーストを選んだが、ボリュームは満点。コロンボのホテルは他に１軒しか知らないが、シャリマールの方が一人旅には値段が手頃で、内容的にも遜色がない。夕食は歩いて７、８分の水上マーケットでとった。

最高です。

マラダーナ駅すぐ隣にあるこのホテル、コロンボフォート駅やバスターミナルからはほぼ道なりに25分ほど歩くと到着します。バスの路線も多くあるようです。コロンボでは中々適当な宿がない中でこのホテルはかなり良い部類に入ると思います。熱いお湯、エアコン、広く綺麗な部屋、親切なスタッフ、スリランカの地方都市の価格と見合わないホテルやゲストハウスに滞在してからではどれも最高に思えました。レセプションのメガネをかけたおじさんは特に親切にしてくれ、チェックアウト日の深夜のフライトだったため荷物を預けて夜7時頃取りに行くと、無料で部屋のシャワーを使わせてくれ非常に助かりました。もしまたコロンボを訪れることがあるなら、ここに泊まろうと思います。

駅近くの便利なホテル

マラダーナ駅から歩いてすぐ、ペターのバスターミナルからは歩いて20分くらいで着きます。宿は交通量の多い道路に面していますが部屋が奥まっているので静かです。深夜コロンボの空港着でも事前にメールしておけば迎えに来てくれます。25USDでした。到着日利用には便利です。部屋は、古いですが掃除が行き届いて清潔です。適当な宿がなかなか無いコロンボのホテルの中でコスパ良いと感じました。

駅に近く空港到着、翌日移動しやすい

マラダナの駅から歩いてすぐにあるため便利です。地図をプリントするのも良いですがドライバーに携帯で連絡してもらう方が早いでしょう。冷房もホットシャワーも問題なくつかえました。夜は大変静かですが、朝の正面通りの喧騒は凄まじいです。

部屋が広く綺麗で快適

部屋が広く清潔で快適でとても落ち着くホテルです。インターネットも問題なく使え、シャワーも熱いお湯が出るし、エアコン、ファン付で、部屋を出たすぐの廊下に椅子とテーブルがあり、そこでタバコも吸えます。歩いて５分以内にたくさんの食堂があり、食事は便利です。車通りも人通りも多いので夜出歩いても危ないことはなさそうでした。フォート駅や中心部からは少し離れているので、電車やバスを使わなくてはいけませんが、バスの本数が多いので、それほど不便ではありません。フォート駅から１０３番のバスに乗りマラダーナ駅そばのバス亭で降りると、歩いて２，３分です。１０ルピーだったかな？コロンボでこの快適さのホテルではかなりお得と思います。

It is worth every penny

After 3 weeks thrvarious places i Sri Lanka, i stayes here for 3 nights when I needed to return to Colombo. Waje, the manager, was the nicest, most aurhentic, flexible and helpful person I had encountered so far in tne hotel industry here, and maybe beyond. I had to check out before anyone normally comes on duty, and he had the kitchen make me a sack breakfast to go the night before. And when i came downstairs, he was up and waiting anyway. He sent out for English newspapers for me, at their expense, and immediately offered to change my room when the TV stopped working. He gave me sughestions on what and where to avoid. I felt like he cared. It is a 2 *, and generally caters to the local population. If you are good with that, you will be very safe and comfortable here. ( that said, it was much more expensive to book on booking.com, so book.here instead)

A traditional style hotel next to Maradana railway

A traditional style hotel next to Maradana railway station. The rooms are quite big, and spacious. The AC worked fine, although the WiFi struggled occasionally. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful,and assisted as required. There is a restaurant on the ground floor open until 22.00, serving a mix of Indian and Chinese dishes, there is also a bar area. I will stay here again, as it suits my needs, although the local area is not central for many people.

Traditional hotel near Maradana railway station

Good value traditional hotel near Maradana railway station. The rooms are very good sized and clean. The bathrooms have individual hot water boilers so always available should you wish. AC in the room was ok and the wifi worked although the signal wasn't the best at times. Friendly and helpful staff who remembered me from previous visits. Laundry took just over a day, but was well done and cheap. They also arranged a car to the airport at a competitive rate. The restaurant was open until 22.00 which is handy as the choices around the area are limited. Beware that rooms at the front will be subject to the associated noise you find here.

A great place to rest your head

This hotel was a 5 minutes walk from the train station. The hotel bedroom is very big and spacious with a huge comfortable bed and very clean. The staff were fabulous and would help with their knowledge and always with a big smile. The food in the restaurant was fabulous and plenty of it and they would even get you a beer from down the road. Would definitely recommend this place.

Good value budget hotel

A very good budget hotel in Colombo. The service was very good.The local area is nothing special with lots of shops selling car parts. My bathroom was clean, but the bathroom tap only emitted a trickle. For what I paid (30 pounds per night) it represented good value

Great hotel with friendly staff and spacious rooms

We were instantly upgraded to a suite room at Shalimar, which was a two storey bedroom with living space, king bed and beautiful slate tiled bathroom. The staff were really helpful and helped us to get the cheapest travel to our early morning flight. The hotel is really clean and nicely furnished and I would definitely stay here again considering the price was so reasonable.

Mosquitoes in the room, no bed nets. Stupid lazy desk staff, no bottled water, shampoo. Very noisy with the train at 5am. Try to find a better hotel but the standards are low in Sri Lanka.

the Shalimar has seen better days but is quite quiet and comfortable in general. i liked the weird design of my room which was like a sunken garden you went down steps to. (perhaps, however, not everyone's cup of tea). not much happening in da hood, especially after 6pm.

Location and overall maintenance poor.

The hotel is not within easy walking distance to attractions in the city. The hotel is badly maintained. Remote controls for the airconditioning and TV did not work well. Shower didn't have enough pressure. Staff however were polite and tried to help as much as possible.

Tres bon hôtel, agréable, bien situé, avec un personnel excellent, très serviable et attentif. L hôtel est propre et calme, la piscine est au top, donc ne pas ce privé.

Preis Leistung super

Wir haben nur eine Nacht dort verbracht, weil wir von Colombo aus weiterreisen wollten, in den Süden. Das hat super geklappt, denn in wenigen Schritten ist der Bahnhof erreicht. Das Zimmer war gut klimatisiert, Dusche und alles notwendige in gutem Zustand vorhanden. Bei den Taxifahrern war es bekannt, sodass man gut dahin fand. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und merkten später auf unserer weiteren Reise, das der Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel zu den luxuriösesten gehörte. Das Hotel ist zu empfehlen.

Scruffy.

The hotel is promoted as having old world character. It does, lots of wood paneling which is rare these days. But the carpet must be to one orginally layed when it was openned. It's red (or was) and clearly very worn, bald and shiny in places. Not sure having a car repair place in the central courtyard is very attractive and the are as a whole is very run down and dirty. The night porter has a natress on the floor in the dinning room which allows him to see the front door, but this feels a little weird when you have to come down early to meet a bus. Not sure about the porter lurking around each floor and corner where ever I seemed to be.

Fabulous hotel next to maradana

Very friendly reception- smiles across all members of staff. Large comfortable bed, hot water, air conditioning- really fantastic watermelon fresh fruit juice with breakfast, lovely evening meal. A perfect stay.

Ok for a night in Colombo

Average dated guesthouse in Colombo, can be reasonably priced compared to other ones in worse shape nearby. The best thing about this guesthouse was the restaurant in the lobby, which turns out some decent biryani, sambal and curry dishes along with nice full liquor/beer selection. There's another good local place across the street towards the train station that makes better biryani and is quite popular. The guesthouse is on a busy street so getting a tuk-tuk is easy, but there's not much else in the area but automotive parts stores if you want to walk around. Staff was generally friendly and spoke adequate english, rooms were spacious and A/C worked, decent choice for a night in Colombo before catching a train somewhere else.

Das Hotel liegt nicht im besten Viertel, ist aber für eine oder zwei Nächte ganz brauchbar. Sauberkeit, Personal, Ausstattung und Essen sind in Ordnung. Interessante Plätze sind mindestens zwei km (BusBahnhof, Fort) entfernt.

Convenient stop over

Hotel chosen for convenience as close to railway station. Nothing attractive about the neighbourhood but central position make it easy to explore Colombo from here. Hotel has very comfortable, clean and spacious rooms, very pleasant and helpful staff. Decent restaurant, though I'd recommend trying some of the excellent and very cheap cafes nearby.

Nice staff and comfortable

We arrived in Colombo at late night, so we asked for the airport pickup service provided by the hotel. The car was nice and the driver was friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. There was a small TV in our room. Something that was not good enough was the water pressure. Also, the wifi signal was quite weak in our room.

Nice hotel, good food.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Excellent shower, wifi was good and the staff were super helpful. They even got our train tickets to Galle for us and we went from the station next door, much more convenient than going to Colombo Fort. Nice restaurant with good food too. Was about 30 minute walk to the centre which didnt bother us.
