"The shower needs to be steam cleaned. My husband said on the way home he would have to bring a cleaning solution to stay there again. I do not believe it is from lack of cleaning, showers often need a refresh after many many uses. Take into consideration there is no fresh ventilation in there, that just adds to the problem. Once the shower is steamed, I think you will see a world of difference although new caulking might be necessary. Other than the shower, the room is clean and fresh. The staff at the front desk is always cheerful and helpful. The kitchen staff is always cheerful and do a wonderful job setting up breakfast. We stay there every year when we can get reservations for the Gatornationals because it is convenient to get to the track and we have always been comfortable. The shower really just needs attention, again, not because of the cleaning staff, it needs a deep cleaning."

"The best thing about Hotel Eleo was its staff. The bed wasn't so bad either. But the worst thing was that horrible Nespresso coffee maker. When first booking the room and seeing the amenities, I ordered my favorite coffee in a Nespresso pod to use. Terrible. Foamy and bitter - no matter which brand of coffee used. But the nearness to Shands was such a plus and the availability of the shuttle service to the hospital 24/7 certainly outweighed the bad coffee. And with the Opus coffee kiosk in the hospital lobby, I was ok. I had breakfast one day and then lunch another day at the restaurant there. Both were great. And William, the bartender/server made me feel as if we were old friends. If a visit to Shands was ever in the future, I would stay at the Eleo again...but I'd pack my little Keurig! "

"This review is to be a warning to other consumers. The pictures of this property as presented on this site, are not a true presentation of this property. They are embellished and not real. This property is a total dump!!! It is an old and very disgusting hotel that has tried to improve its look by renovating the rooms and lobby with cheap materials and cheap remodeling. First of all, the hotel exterior is enough to make you vomit and scared to even go inside. Indoors have such a terrible smell, that you might as well go to a motel or hostel. You won't be able to breath. The so-called "remodeling" was done to cover up the low-quality rooms, but it is absolutely terrible. There are cracks and stains and mold everywhere. The beds are gross with stains too. If all this was not enough to turn you away, beware of the COCKROACHES IN THE ROOM!! I have pictures of all of this and will try to post them here. I stayed in this hotel only because it was half price of the other places, and i still regret it. I might be scarred for a long time, it was so disgusting!! Yuck "

"Would have rated hotel a 5 except no sleep on Fri and Sat night until after 2am due to noise of bar!!!!! Great location to restaurants walking less then 1 block: Harry's, Dragonfly, OAK, BBQ chicken, Pizza place, Starbucks, ice cream shop. No parking but we knew this so ubbered everywhere. Nice pool, great staff, friendly and quick to respond to needs. So my advice is dont stay here on the weekend unless you stay up partying until 2am and ubber, dont rent a car. Continental breakfast was the best ive ever had."

"Booked the room 3 days in advance. When i arrived they said there wasn't any rooms available. After an hour of checking he found my reservation but my room was in the middle of renovation and the door wouldn't open from the outside so he climbed through the window to open the room to show me. It was full of mattresses and construction supplies. They cleaned most of it out and put new bedding on one bed and put up a shower curtain. By this time it's after 2am and i just wanted to take a shower and get a couple hours of sleep. Next surprise wad they didn't have any towels and wash cloths or curtains for the windows right next to the bed i was sleeping in. I did not go back for the second night!"
