    9.75-ACRE (3.95-HECTARE) JUNGLE & GARDEN SETTING

Casa de las Mariposas sits on approximately 9.75 acres (3.95 hectares), combining maintained outdoor areas with natural mountainside jungle.

The home, private pool, and main outdoor living spaces sit on a flatter area of the property. From there, guests can walk down to a lower flat area with fruit trees and a tropical garden.

Much of the remaining acreage extends up the mountainside as steep, undeveloped jungle. This natural area creates a buffer around the home, providing exceptional privacy, lush tropical scenery, and habitat for local wildlife.

    WILDLIFE & NATURE

Nature is part of the experience at Casa de las Mariposas. Guests have reported seeing toucans, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, parrots, capuchin monkeys, coatis, butterflies, and other wildlife around the property.

Sightings are never guaranteed, but the surrounding jungle and tropical gardens provide plenty of opportunities to watch and listen for Costa Rica’s wildlife without leaving home.

    Guest access
You’ll have access to the home, private pool, covered terrace, tropical garden, and maintained outdoor areas to yourself during your stay.

    Other things to note

The Best Costa Rican Experience Ever!

We spent 18 days/nights at this site. It totally lived up to everything we do dreamed of. Jungle experience with a short drive to beaches, stores, and restaurants. We're already discussing the next trip back to this luxurious location... with the kids this time . Definitely a 10/10!!

Our visit here was for 4 night 3 days. This property is amazing. Pictures do not do the landscaping & natural beauty of the grounds justice. The house is very nice, everything my wife & I needed. Comfortable bed & strong hot shower. We spent our time outdoors in the beauty of nature. No matter where you took a seat on the huge patio area, every where you looked was beauty. So calm, so relaxing. We used this home as a staging stop, so that we could go visit the Boruca Village. After our visit we stayed on the property for the next 2 days, just relaxing & taking in the sounds & sights of nature. Thanks so much for the use of your beautiful home.

What a great place! The accommodations were 5 star and the birds and nature was a 10 out of 10. It was quiet on the mountain side and the sunsets over the ocean were great. We would definitely come back here and stay longer next time.

Beautiful and private

A compact getaway on a beautiful jungle acreage. Clean and new with all the comforts one might hope to expect. Lots of outdoor space to enjoy, including a pool. Lots of bird action. And an awesome view. Memorable sunsets. The only minor criticism is that it’s off the beaten track and you have to drive to restaurants and beaches

Lovely surroundings

The house was perfect for the two of us - plenty of room, but not too big. The gardens are very nice and well planned to attract butterflies. It has amazing views and is very private and not at all overlooked by other houses. The best thing is the number and variety of birds to watch, like scarlet macaws, toucans and aracaris, as well as the other wildlife. We were fortunate enough to watch a large group of white faced capuchin monkeys travelling through nearby trees.

This house.....

Was absolutely amazing. If we had found it earlier we probably would of stayed here for our whole trip. As it was we extended our stay here three days. A perfect slice of paradise. Super well stocked house as far as kitchen and bathroom amenities go, super comfy beds, an amazing pool, and immaculate cleanliness. Couldn't rave about this place more if we tried. We had Scarlett Macaws, Capuchins, Toucans and hawks on a daily basis.....the Luminescent beetles were the perfect touch for night swims.

Pura Vida Perfection!

Can we somehow give 5+ stars?!?! How is it possible to take a vacay in Paradise and make it even better? Well, this is the place to make that happen! We frequent VRBO’s pretty regularly, and have never had a better experience than our time here. Danny & Rebecca have thought of every detail to make you never want to leave your home away from home. Preparing for our journey was a breeze, thanks to the wonderful coordination & communication. Upon arrival, greeted by the smiling & sincere Edwin was just the tip of loveliness we experienced from the locals. You’ll never want to leave the house. The floral, the fauna, the critters, butterflies, and sunsets will take your breath away. Early mornings & evenings are especially captivating. Surround sound as nature starts/finishes the day, and then a slight breeze to get the chimes going. Mother Nature just loves this place and you can certainly feel her smile here. While we ate our way through many of the local restaurants, Fusion Restaurant just a few minutes down the road, served as a great repeat. The many fruit stands that fit the drive also make for *perfect* afternoon smoothies back at the house, cause of course they even thought of that - Ninja blender, pineapple corer, fully stocked kitchen etc. Location. Location. Location. About a 4hr drive from San Jose, perfectly located if you’re looking for a bit less people, but a lot of Paradise. Situated near Uvita, means you get the best that Costa has to offer - rainforests, beaches, and waterfalls. ...and speaking of waterfalls, make sure to make time to hit Uvita waterfall. We saved the best for last with this one! Went on a Saturday afternoon, fret not - there were maybe a dozen people there? Mostly locals, brave enough to slide down the Uvita waterfall!!! You’ve just never experienced anything like it! Our only regret? We didn’t have time to take advantage of a waterfall hike with Edwin, guess we’ll have to come back (SOON!). Thank you so much for sharing your dream with our family! Team Vernon Ray, Cristi, Rachael, & Elle (we even “adopted” a new friend - Jake. #Jakethesnakeisafake) 🥰
