It is a restored historic house, very quiet, with attentive staff. The front door is kept locked a lot of the time, including overnight, so it is an especially secure place. There are no stairs which is unusual in a historic building.
The room featured high old wood ceilings and tile floors. There was a mixture of old and new, such as an old sewing machine cabinet made into a table by adding a modern glass top. There was an iron tub with feet containing a good shower and the bed was comfortable. Our room did not have a window, but a ceiling vent with either just outside air or evaporative cooling kept us comfortable. There was a wall heater for times of the year one might need it. The closet was small.
Breakfast was courteous and right on time, but was nothing more than coffee, juice, fresh fruit, dry cereal or toast, and yogurt. We had expected a full breakfast.
It is a few blocks walk to the city center but just a block or two to the Vivabus. This is a new system with a designated bus lane and enclosed stops in the center of the street. During business hours it runs every 5 minutes. The bus runs through the city center as well as to the main bus station.
San Felipe el Real is conveniently located near down town, but far enough to miss the congestion and noise. We enjoyed the friendliness of the owners, Pearl, Daniel and Luz, and their ability to make one feel welcome. It is not a pretentious place but it has possibilities.
We stayed in room #1 which can be very noisy as guests walk in the immediate hall when they come into the hotel, often carrying on conversations with other or on their phone and we were woken up two different nights. The other rooms seemed to be far from enough from the entrance and may not suffer this problem. The hotel is small and pleasant.
I had no problem snf would stay there again...
The actual hotel is nice. The owners have recreated a Victorian feel to the rooms. It's very simple, small and intimate. Breakfast was cooked in a kitchen area right next to a beautiful, giant table for us. Simple but delicious eggs with chorizo, cereal, yogurt and papaya. Host was helpful with ideas for what to see in our limited visit. It's walking distance to the central square and a few major sights. Not a lot of fun neighborhood vibe like we have found in Mexico City or Antigua but I would recommend the hotel to anyone spending time in Chihuahua. Make sure to look through the folder of pictures of renovation to appreciate what they did.
A great place to stay, located close to the main plaza but in a quiet street. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any one visiting Chihuahua.

The most unusual and nicest thing about the hotel for me were the traditional dining room and living rooms. We had breakfast at a large table in the dining room with other guests, which was very pleasant (and the food was great). We relaxed in the living room whenever we wanted. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The wifi was strong. The decor is historical, which is interesting, but it made my room seem cluttered and out-of-date. My friend's room was simpler, brighter, and more pleasant. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Plenty of hot water.
this is converted residence built in the traditional colonial Mexican style, i.e all rooms are around a small patio. Our room got its only daylight from a small window to the patio like we experienced at many other small hotels of this kind in Mexico. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, making us feel at home. When we aske for a pizzeria nearby, he suggested to have a pizza delivered and eat on the patio. He set the table for us without being asked!
Hotel is great! walking distance to historic downtown and fine dining. The complimentary breakfast is fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal and pretty much any style eggs you could want. Will stay again for sure.
