Hidden East Village Gem

This lovely unit in an a peaceful treelined street that is quiet and an oasis form the hustle bustle from the city. This quiet and well appointed listing offers a fully stocked kitchen and a patio to enjoy a relaxing dinner or a drink on the patio.

Please NOTE: There are two bedrooms with a king and queen pull out bed respectfully. We offer a Queen Air Mattress with bedding UPON request.

The East Village Historic District is a historic district in the East Village neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The district is primarily residential and includes the oldest portions of the neighborhood. German immigrants and German Americans settled and developed the district from 1870 to 1920. Settlers were drawn to the area due to its proximity to jobs, both in local businesses and in larger industries such as brewing. Many of the architects and builders of the district's homes were German as well; they generally built houses in vernacular styles using masonry. After 1920, the neighborhood became primarily Polish; its demographics shifted again in the 1960s due to Hispanic settlement.[2]

In the event the noise alert is activated and/or if unapproved visitors access the property the authorities will be contacted immediately.

Smoking and vaping of ANY substance is prohibited.

Do not leave food or debris that can attract pests.

When checking out do not leave windows open, lights on and doors unlocked.

Please do not cook anything that leaves a lingering odor.

Please take off shoes after entering the unit.

Do not adhere or tape ANYTHING to walls and surfaces.

Do not use white towels, sheets, washcloths to remove make up ($10 fee per towel will be charged).

Loud music, voices, vibrations or any audible disturbance loud enough to disturb neighbors is prohibited.

Neighbor relations are critical for the health of our listing. We expect neighbors and other guests to be treated with respect and dignity.

Great Master Bed & Bath

The place is in a great location, convenient to public transportation and restaurants. I think the listing says “2 beds, 2 baths,” which is technically true. I would enthusiastically recommend for a couple! 5 stars! But we were 4 adults using both beds and an air mattress for three nights. The master bedroom is lovely and super comfortable with a large bathroom with a tub. The second bed is an uncomfortable pull-out couch in a small den. I can’t recommend if you need that bed for adults. There is no parity. The air mattress for a small extra charge was not bad, but it does take up most of the living room area.

Timing of s everything

You can’t know unless someone tells you that there was MAJOR construction going on right next door. A complete frame-out, with nail guns, large hammers, table saws and forklifts. 7:30AM- 8 PM. Impossible to sleep or ignore it during the day. If you are looking at an April, May or June place this year, beware. This is a nice unit on the inside. The master bedroom and bath are spacious. The 2nd bedroom is a foldout couch with a mattress that definitely needs to be upgraded. Also the dresser drawers are inaccessible in the room when the couch is open, so not convenient at all. A good 1/2 mile walk to a decent grocery store- only high-priced.bodegas nearby.

Work/play escape

Went to Chicago for two events a week apart and stayed to work 3/4 time and enjoy the city 1/4 time. This place worked great as a home/work base. Comfortable space for my partner to hang out when I was working, speedy network. Location was great to quickly Uber to tourist attractions, distilleries, dive bars, cabarets and plenty of dining options. Only snag was a truncated set of check in instructions (copy paste glitch or something) that was resolved with a message when we arrived.

Work and play

Came to town for two concerts a week apart. I worked remotely 3/4 time for the week in between, enjoying Chicago in the afternoon/evening. The location was great for both work and play. Ubers to shows and attractions were quick and easy. Apartment was very comfortable during the day and as a home base. Kitchen was very usable the one night we decided to cook. From fine dining to dive bars and Malort shots, it was all great!

The Stay Was Not Worth The Money Paid: Many Problems

- the check in process was horrible. Check in was at 4pm, and we had not received check-in instructions at 4pm. Our party had to reach out to property manager multiple times by phone call and text leading up to 6:30pm to receive full check-in instructions. - in the on suit bathroom, one of the sinks could not be used due to water overflowing on the floor during use- internet service was not consistent at all. With that we couldn’t use television in any of the rooms for most of stay - construction next door was very loud the entire stay. Especially in the mornings

Great Chicago Getaway Stay!

PROS: Spacious, comfortable, clean, modern yet charming, well-appointed 2 bed/2 bath with lovely common areas. The listing is accurate - this place is a GEM! I would stay here again. Best of my Chicago VRBO experiences to date. Kept us warm & safe on a very cold & snowy long weekend! Neighborhood is lovely, safe & quiet. Would love to experience the windows/porch/etc. in warmer weather. William the host was communicative, positive, and friendly.CONS: Be aware - the property mgmt software/system was a major frustration. Check-in was confusing, the lockbox was a mechanical challenge, and check-out instructions were received after we left the unit. I can only imagine the issues that must come with managing city property rentals... still, there were a lot of warnings and policies and messages and fee lists that did not apply to this property (?) or to who my friend and I are as travelers. The worst part was that we did not have the codes/clarity we actually needed to cover the basics of being a polite, informed pair of out-of-town guests. These are issues that should be easy to address for future guests at this specific property. I sincerely hope these hosting processes will be improved because this is a fantastic VRBO option in Chicago!

Winter Break Made Breezy

The apartment was cozy, clean and comfortable. The owner was easy to reach out to and the location was fantastic. Few mins to bus stops and Blue Line. It was a breeze to check in and out and access it throughout the length of stay. I would return to the same apartment again.

Good location in a great city

We really enjoyed our stay here. Busses were easy to access to get to mostly anywhere you wanted to go. Communication with the property managment was easy and swift. There is alot of good food and shopping in the area. The master bedroom was large and bad a comfortable bed. There bathrooms were also nice. The second bedroom was a nice room, but much smaller which is fine. The only issue we had was the 2nd bedroom mattress. The mattress had no support and you could feel the couch frame underneath. My brother and his girlfriend ended up taking the mattress off and using it on the ground ehich helped substandtially. I would recommend getting a better futon if advertising as a 2 bedroom. Either way, we were really happy with evrything else. My only other suggestion would be to get metal cooking utensils, since the stove is gas powered and plastic can melt fairly easily which can be a fire hazard. There are large windows which we really liked. Again, a beautiful area and seemed pretty safe. A few good mexican restaurants in the area as well as cockstail bards.

We were so pleased with our stay in the East Village at this beautiful place! So well laid out! The master suite has the most comfortable bed I’ve ever encountered! Great access to public transit and a very quiet neighborhood.

Nice apartment

Overall we were happy with our stay. Very clean apartment. We had no problem finding parking close by. Please note the second queen "bed" is a pull out couch that is not comfortable. Would work for young kids because they seem to be able to sleep on anything.

Spacious apartment in great location

This apartment was beautiful! Perfect spot to relax with our adult children. We really appreciated that there were two full bathrooms with showers. The kitchen area had everything we needed plus some extra amenities. Great location with easy access to the subway, Wicker Park and Bucktown shopping and restaurants. The only recommendation we have is to add towel bars in the bathrooms for hanging wet towels for reuse & to double check with the cleaning service. There was a sponge left in the bathroom sink and some dirty socks under the coffee table/ottoman in the living room. Surprising, but no big deal!

Great for small families

Property was clean and spacious which was perfect for our family of 4. The neighbor was cute and we felt safe being there. Free street parking, though spaces were some times limited. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

Exactly as described/pictures

This was the perfect stay for a week and had everything we needed plus all the luxe amenities you like in home away from home (extra towels, plenty of soap and other amenities, nice TV). Ten minutes from L, two minutes from bike hire, walk to plenty of great food and bars, quiet street and building. Would highly recommend to friends and would definitely come back!

Great property, misleading terms

Was happy with the overall property, cleanliness, responsiveness of the host and amenities. However, the host notified us that we would not be allowed to have ANY "unauthorized guests" at the property AFTER the free cancelation period had passed. We are all adults and were planning on hosting a small dinner party/potluck for our friends but were unable to accommodate them. Host's policy is: no guests allowed at any time, there are noise detection systems in place (despite the fact that neighbors were blasting music around the clock on the weekend) and mentions that cameras monitor all entry points 24/7. Seems unreasonable to specify this policy once it's too late to cancel. Great property (interior and location) and friendly host; shame the policies were so strict.
