I had a standard private room, which is in a separate building from the rest of the hostel. Spacious, comfortable room with good amenities. It was awkward at first, because access to the rooms is through the Meetman Restaurant, but the staff made me feel welcome. Great location near the Thapae Gate. Heaps of worthwhile stuff within an easy walk.

Liked: Staff & service
Overall it's a good place. The area is quiet and walkable. The place itself is nice, nicer than most hostels in the same price range. You get breakfast and the staff is nice. The bathrooms seem to always be clean which is HUGE deal for most I suppose. The only thing that management needs to improve on is routine maintenance, the rooms walls need paint, as do the bathrooms. Some stalls and showers have stains of dubious precedence which is off-putting. I started in a small sigle room, very small but just right if you don't have large luggage. The bed was very firm which I liked. I was in the bathroom on the day the earthquake happened in Myanmar and I saw how the column on the 3rd floor bathroom split, next to the sink. Not sure if it's a safety hazard but it's bigger than a hairline crack.
We booked a private room with bathroom. The room is in an Annex building not at the main building. Room was of a good size and was very clean.
The location of the property is great and you can walk easily everywhere from there.
I stayed in a single room and it was really sociable. This hostel is great if you want to be right in the heart of city and looking for a very well well managed environment. Everybody who works there is really friendly and very helpful. This was truly one of the best hostel experiences I’ve had. If I come back to Chiang Mai I will definitely stay here again!
Stayed at Suneta Chiang Mai for 5 nights. Arrived before check in and where upgraded to a private room because it was ready!
Very happy with the staff and service, Staff were very helpful with tips and information about surrounding area
Great breakfast and clean environment, not high end but very affordable and walking distance to the old city
Would stay again

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
It was nice to sleep in a private room with this price although the room was very small. Location was perfect, staffs were helpful and friendly and breakfast was decent, but bathroom area wasn't always clean.
This hostel just located near Thapae gate around only 50 meters with providing several kinds of different types rooms. This time I stayed here in single room with sharing bathroom. Staffs here are so friendly and clean both in room and public area. Besides, thay also provide good quality breakfast even just a hostel.
Value New hostel by Tha Pae Gate, tourist landmark
I stayed in a private double room (#401) on the fourth floor. The fourth floor was just finished (and the top floor, i.e., 5th, was not finished), so I was told. The room was indeed brand new and came with its own balcony though it was just empty space without chairs or a table -- I saw the 3rd-floor double room #301 (just underneath of mine) had a table and chairs in its balcony, however. The view from my balcony was not good -- just facing the front building. The next private room (#402) may be facing the next-door temple, so it is likely to have a better view. The AC, shower, and refrigerator were also all brand new. I loved the beautiful tile in the bathroom. They gave me two bottles of water twice (total four bottles) for free and changed bath towels twice over five nights. The room had great privacy and I didn't hear noise except cats fighting in a middle of the night. WiFi signal was weak in the room but it was strong and fast in the lobby. Breakfast was good (fresh salad, toast, fruits, juice, jam, cereal, milk, and great coffee for the Thai standard). Plus, someone on duty cooked eggs for me every morning. The reception staff, both Akira and Title, were helpful when it comes to good restaurants and places to visit. The location was great too. It's a 10-15 minutes walk to the three kings statue and also the Saturday and Sunday night markets. You don't have to stay inside the walled city. Chiang Mai is very walkable.
