Cottage with Private Beach! Views of Lake, Mountains and Sunset! Near Acadia NP!
The best of Maine’s historic shore and woodland cabins! Near Acadia National Park!
The fully maintained and renovated Cottage is perched just above the shore line and has extensive beach, water and mountain views from many large windows. The cottage is just a few steps from a 250 yard long private property beach with fresh clear spring fed water lake and gradual sandy bottom swimming.
The cottage has the possibility to also have an "add on" nearby one-room cabin made available. This cabin is separate, with private bathroom, outdoor shower, grill, basic cooking, coffee, fridge, deck, and a queen bunkbed. Please inquiry if interested. Owner can add it onto this rental prior to booking via VRBO.
My Maine property is a private 300-acre peninsula with a mile-long private gated driveway through some of Maine's last stand of old growth Hemlocks that then splits off to each of 4 private cabins. I have been renting three of the cabins to vetted families and couples since 1997 through online services such as VRBO. Each rental has privacy, separate parking, natural and unobstructed views of the lake, beach and mountains. Our completely private 250 yard long beach is the center piece. The Boathouse (google “VRBO 4017223ha”) and Three Bears Cottage (google “VRBO 102873ha”) are located on the south end of the beach and are separated by 25 yards. The Shadow Cabin (Google “VRBO 102874ha”) and the other cabin are located on the north end of the beach and are separated by 50 yards.
The property is large and I limit the number of people on the property at one time so that the general serenity of the property can be fully experienced by all without any worry about noise, beach use, shared amenities, and general privacy. There is a caretaker who will be there on the day of arrival, Wednesday for trash and assistance, and is on call for emergencies and to maintain the safety, sanitation, and operation of the property for you. The lake and surrounding area have abundant loons and their haunting calls can be heard day and night. They are a daily visitor to our private cove along with duck families, turtles, and bald eagles. The lake is superb for swimming and is completely spring fed so the water is crystal clear, fresh, and enjoyable. The water temperatures are very comfortable during the summer months and can be enjoyed for hours. Our large private beach offers a soft, clean (non-muck), sandy, gradual entrance into the water. We have a wooden floating raft that is perfect to fish from, swim or paddle to and from, as well as relax on while watching the schools of fish swim by. Our property is surrounded by a State of Maine land reserve (Donnell Pond Unit) that is an extension of Acadia National Park. There is fantastic hiking and exploring all within just a few minutes’ drive or locally a short walk or paddle, all of which has views over thousands of acres of protected land, Acadia National Park, seacoast, islands, lakes, mountains, and our property. We offer for our guests 5 one-man kayaks, 1 two-man kayak, 3 paddle boards, 5 kid kayaks, and a canoe to explore the lake, its remote beaches, the outlets, beaver dams, eagle nests, and fishing. The lake is 75% undeveloped/State owned so you can enjoy the completely secluded natural beaches and shores without worry. The entire property is in its natural state and could be physically challenging.
We do allow for an authorized dog(s) with the understanding that it is not allowed onto furniture, be destructive to the property, be overly bothersome, or be left unattended without being properly secured or crated. It is, however, a fantastic place for a dog especially for one that loves the water, beach, woods, hiking, and general free play. There is a $100 per dog fee. There will be other dogs on the property. Most return every year and are known and have been respectful. Please understand that dogs are often playing on the beach off-leash.

We loved this location as it was out in the woods yet close enough for us to travel to local areas to see the great scenes of Maine. Very relaxing sitting out in the beach watching the sunset!!! We will be back!
If you want to get away this place is it. Beautiful cabin by the lake. We loved the seclusion and quietness of it all. There was a sense of serenity, peace, and quiet. Loved the esthetic of the cabin with all it New England charm.
My husband and I had an incredible experience staying at this special cottage. We didn’t expect it to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The location and set up provided a peaceful oasis after long days exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cottage met all of our needs to include providing a perfect haven for our dogs.
We loved the accommodations, the location and the people. We had very few neighbors and the uniqueness of the place made for pleasant and fun interactions when we did run into each other. Andrew was a great host who gave us a deeper appreciation for the history behind the beauty that surrounded us.
We look forward to our future return to this magical place!
The cabin we stayed in was comfortable, well stocked with supplies, and clean. There is a beautiful stone fireplace that was great to just relax in front of during one night when it was chilly and raining. Pictures can never do the lakefront justice. Water is clear and you can spend hours there looking at the view or just watching the aquatic animals swim around, which is exactly what my 8 and 6 year old did. We also spent one night star gazing on the beach.
The owners are lovely people and excellent hosts. Their dog Beau is also very welcoming and showed our Labrador all around. It truly is a private piece of Maine heaven.
Our stay at Andrew's cottage was delightful. We spent a few nights here while on our honeymoon roadtrip through Maine. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed to cook dinners and have a relaxing trip! We visited Acadia as a day trip (~1 hr drive), but we actually enjoyed our time on Spring River Lake and hiking near the cottage more than Acadia! Nothing beats having morning coffee on a private beach, kayaking at sunset, or hiking Black Mountain and jumping in Schoodic Beach to cool off :) Did I mention star gazing from the beach is incredible?! This cottage is perfect if you enjoy nature and value privacy and solace.
Andrew provided excellent directions on how to get there (the driveway is easy to miss!) and many suggestions of activities and hikes to do in the area. The property manager was so friendly and attentive to our needs (including an after hours phone call). We definitely recommend a stay at Andrew's place- you can't go wrong!
Our family can’t say enough good things about the cabin and the property. It was everything we hoped it would be and then some. Looking forward to staying again in the future!
I'd like to thank the owner(s) for the opportunity to stay at such a beautiful, quite and very clean place in the woods of an untouched land of Maine.
We will be back!
It’s hard to imagine a vacation rental near Acadia Ntl Park that would make you NOT want to go into the park… but this is it. From the private beach, crystal clear lake and cozy cabin, you won’t want to leave. Loved that our fur-baby was welcome, and he had the time of his life running around with new friend Bo! 🐶 Thank you Andrew for allowing us access to such a beautiful, untouched piece of heaven. It’s a rare find.
Upon arriving we traveled through an almost untouched forest with just enough space for our vehicle. It was a magical moment. We have never felt in the forest more than here. The water and beach were spectacular. Water crystal clear, clean sandy beach, coves of rocks that make you feel so small. Our dogs had a blast and are exhausted from the hiking on the property. We kayaked and ate some great food. Bob the caretaker was a pleasure to talk to and work with.
Informational only: There is no TV, washer or dryer. Arrive before dark and follow the instructions from the owner. Print the instructions out because you will loose service closer to the cabin. iPhone texts go through great at the cabin. Wifi is super fast.
After wandering around Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor during our days it was relaxing and rejuvenating to return to the peaceful solitude of the cabin in the woods.
Our 3 night visit to Andrew's cabin on Spring River Lake was great. The house was very clean and situated well on the lake near the beach. The kayaks came in handy and there are some awesome trails close by. It was nice to stay in a remote place before we made our trip into all the hustle - bustle of Bar Harbor.
Our stay was wonderful in this very comfortable, well appointed cabin and the clear warm lake and surrounding easy hiking trails. There is so much to see and do that a full week stay is necessary! You can spend days just exploring the lake with the provided canoe and kayaks and just down the road there are a number of hikes that have spectacular views and are much less crowded than AcadiaNP, but that is only a 45 minute drive - so easy to spend a few days exploring there also. We always try to travel with our canine family member - and we all very much appreciated the privacy of the area and the easy access to the lake so she could have her vacation too! The owner and caretaker are very easy to reach and communicate with and are friendly and accommodating. We certainly hope to return again.
Wonderful vacation for a family who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle. The lake is absolutely stunning-crystal clear, warm, large enough to explore all day in a kayak, but with a large sandy beach where you can spend the day rolling in and out of the water.
Our cabin was clean and well appointed. As dog lovers we appreciated that our dog was able to have as great a trip as us!
Andrew and family ( including canine member, Bo) were wonderful hosts. An easy drive to Acadia NP/ Bar Harbor, which we did visit, but truth be told we found ourselves longing to be back at the lake.
A truly special spot to reconnect, rejuvenate, and enjoy nature. We’ll be back.
Also, lots of hammocks!
My family and I had a wonderful week staying here. Place was very clean and had everything you need. Owner was super nice and helpful. Very remote, so note the directions that the owner gives you! About 45 mins to Acadia, which is fabulous to explore. Highly recommend, planning on returning with more family someday!
We spent our mornings on the deck lingering over our coffee. We filled our days with vigorous hikes and fun in the lake. And every evening we were serenaded by loons. The perfect vacation.
The stay at this lakefront cabin was just what we needed! It is situated on a beautiful piece of land right on the lake, overlooking the mountains. The only noises we heard were the loon calls (which is our favorite sound!) and a bullfrog from time to time. We spent each day playing in the water, on the beach, fishing and paddling around the lake. Andrew and Bob were both very friendly and accommodating. We can't say enough about what a good time we had...we have all been bumming since we left, wishing we were still there. lol. We can't wait to come back again!
My family and I had a wonderful time at the lake. It was perfect in every way. If you are looking to escape the daily and just be with your loved ones with a book and your thoughts this is it. We enjoyed early morning kayak rides, picnic lunches by the shore, evenings by the fire. My family and I would like to thank the owner and caretaker for their hospitality.
My fiancé and I stayed at Andrew’s cabin in preparation for our elopement, he was so accommodating to us having our photographer and other vendor come out to the property and helped us coordinate due to the remote location of the cabin. All of my questions were answered and we felt so lucky to stay at this beautiful place. The cabin had everything we needed, and it was great being able to use the beach chairs, kayaks, canoe and other amenities provided. It is a very peaceful and relaxing spot. Couldn’t have asked for anything better, we hope to one day return!
