Red Door Cabin
Experience the mountains of North Georgia at this full-time homestead! One of four historic cabins on our property, located just 10 minutes from Fort Mountain State Park, 25 minutes from Ellijay, and 45 minutes from Blue Ridge. Come enjoy hiking, mountain biking, local history, or simply relax by the creek that borders the property. The hosts and their dogs are happy to let you enjoy your stay in peace, or to visit and tell you more about the area! The cabin is set on a 8 acre property, along with three other rental cabins, all original log cabins from the late 18th, early 19th century. The hosts live on the property, along with their friendly dogs. You’ll likely see them working outside, whether it be in the garden or with the chickens. On the first floor you’ll find a kitchen stocked with some essentials for cooking meals, and a living room furnished for relaxation. There is a big screen Smart TV on which you can stream your favorite movies and shows, and even a DVD player/DVD collection if you prefer to kick it old school. The downstairs bedroom is furnished with two full size beds and you’ll quickly notice that the bathroom is only accessible by walking through this bedroom! Upstairs is the master bedroom with one queen bed. The front porch looks out on the chicken coop, and while the three other cabins are all visible from the porch, there is a unique sense of privacy. Guests are welcome to explore all 8 acres! There is a stream that borders an edge of the property and a parcel of woods that is great for walking. At least one of the four hosts will likely be on the property at any given time. Feel free to reach out through the app if you need anything, or flag us down if you see us outside! We are located an hour and a half north of Atlanta and just about an hour southeast of Chattanooga. Ellijay, the mountain biking capital of Georgia, is less than a half hour’s drive, and we are just two miles from the Pinhoti Trail. In addition to hiking and mountain biking there are historical sites, breweries, small mountain towns, and endless taquerias within a half an hour in any direction. If you happen to forget anything, feel free to check with the hosts, or visit the local grocery stores, all 10-15 minutes away. All four cabins are located along a gravel driveway and are easily accessible by any vehicle. Look for the door color to indicate which cabin you’ll be staying in! One or two cars can easily be parked in front of each unit. These cabins are special to us! They are historic, old, rough around the edges, and beautiful. We hope you think so, too!

This property is very serine and peaceful. While there are several cabins on the property it is quiet, relaxing and a wonderful “escape”. Sarah was easy to contact, responsive and helpful when I had questions. Everything was ready for us when we got there, there was plenty of room and we enjoyed the weekend! I would definitely stay here again.
Enjoyed our stay in your GA log cabin! Met all our needs for our stay! Will definitely come back for a longer stay. Thank you so much for your excellent hospitality!!!!
Property was nice. Only issue was the freezer was packed full of meat and furs that we assumed belonged to the property owner so we could not use it. Never had that happen in a cabin rental before. Have seen where they have a private area for their personal stuff, but never in the fridge/freezer that the person renting is supposed to use. So that was a small issue glad we brought a cooler. Other than that nice quiet property.
WOW! One of the best rental experiences I’ve ever had.
Toadshadehill is an amazing find! This unique homestead features 4 historic cabins from the 1800’s that have been renovated and updated with all the comforts one could ask for. As you arrive you’re welcomed with a the sounds of chickens roaming the property. This was one of my favorite parts. The property is a working homestead so there’s a beauty garden and a ton of space to explore. Each cabin has all the modern comforts such as AC/Heat, power, running water, WiFi (very good quality), and a full working kitchen stocked with anything you’ll need to make the perfect meals! When I arrived there was a kind letter personalized to welcome me and a delicious slice of strawberry cake the owner had left for me to enjoy! They also let me take home some fresh grown Kale and Lettuce. If you’re looking for a place to getaway and enjoy nature and the mountains, this place is what you’ve been looking for. I’ve stayed in a lot of places and this is my new favorite location.
Come enjoy the mountains of North Georgia and experience nature in a unique way you can’t find anywhere else!
Wow, Perfect Getaway in a Beautiful Setting! GREAT HOSTS 😊
We were recharged by this getaway spot in the GA woods. The cabin is refreshingly authentic with all the modern amenities of a newer place. Reading about this small enclave of cabins Is AMAZING to think that they were painstakingly relocated to this idyllic wooded location. My wife and I weren’t quite sure how our 20ish niece and nephew would “dig” the 1800s accommodations but they said: “this is SO COOL!”, “WE LOVE THIS PLACE!”.
Sarah and her cohost, Maddie we extremely helpful, kind, sweet and knowledgeable about the cabins and the MANY ACTIVITIES in the area. I think we’d almost be tempted to go back and ‘hang with them’! Truly the vacation/rest and fun that we were looking for! 😊
The place is clean, well stocked with towels, kitchen items, etc.
Sarah, thanks for the awesome stay!
Hopefully we’ll be back, “Jack” 😉

Off away from any city life and quiet. This is definitely the place to stay. Upon arriving you can see the chickens free roaming and the area is soo beautiful. The cabin itself is soo comfortable and welcoming. We all loved our stay. I can't complain one bit! We hope to stay here on future passings through the area! The host is fabulous with communication and accommodation. Thank you so much.
**Also just note, my little boy left his stuffed animal behind and she offered to send it back to him which means so much to us. Thank you for all you do!
