We arrived on a Sunday having driven from the UK, and with 2 young kids on board - 5 and 9 - we were happy to get there! The local shops were shut but Debs and Garry had kindly put some bread, milk, cheese, butter, tomatoes, pain au chocolates and importantly some beer in the fridge for us. As soon as we arrived we relaxed. The gite itself is perfect and quite big with two good sized bedrooms one with an en-suite, a large kitchen with double doors opening up onto the decked area, a large utility area with washing machine in, downstairs loo, a dining room and a cosy lounge with a well stocked bookcase. Outside there is a decked area, a large pool, the essential BBQ and a large private garden. The outside table and chairs are covered by a retractable blind which is good for keeping the sun off you when eating. The views from the garden and deck area are of fields and trees with the famous Limousine cattle in some of them. We spent the first few days just relaxing and reading whilst the kids were in and out of the pool. It is idyllic.
There's lots of things to do locally and we explored Chateau's and some of the very pretty local towns and villages. There are 2 lakes nearby - 10 mins - which are great to spend the day at, you can hire canoes, paddle boards and sailing boats - we tried all three!! There's good restaurants there as well as cafes/snack bars.
The local area is quiet and very picturesque, and we enjoyed just driving about to and from wherever we'd been to that day.
Debs and Garry are lovely and having lived in France for a long time very knowledgeable about things to do and places to go etc (got to try the mussels in La Tremblade!!) We had the best 2 week holiday and could quite easily have stayed there for a lot longer, we look forward to going back again.
