The Thistle House off Chardon Square

Welcome to The Thistle House named in honor of Chardon, the French word for thistle. We invite you to enjoy a spacious, 3 bedroom, 2 full bath home in the heart of Geauga County. The large serene backyard has outdoor seating, outdoor eating space and a fire pit. The second story balcony is a cozy spot off the upstairs master for a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

Nearby restaurants, shops, parks, walking trails, golfing, festivals, and more will make you want to stay longer. We look forward to hosting you and suggesting anything from a great restaurant to a fun part of Northeastern Ohio to explore. Come and visit our nearby Newbury farm to see the chickens, ducks, horses, donkey, pigs and more!

Our host Molly, was communicative and helpful. She made us feel welcome by leaving us some farm fresh eggs and a zucchini bread to get our next morning off to a good start.The home was very clean and lovingly restored.I gave our stay a 4 star instead of a 5 because of the mattresses and pillows. The mattresses were too soft and uncomfortble. We thought maybe it was our 60 plus bodies but my 30 something daughter felt the same way.

Thistle House was the perfect house to spend Thanksgiving with family. Thistle House host Molly was easy to communicate with. Check in was easy and the house fit our needs. Thank you Molly for coming by to shovel the driveway. That was a nice gesture! We will definitely recommend Thistle House for any friends or family traveling to Geauga County!

Perfect stay in Chardon

We were up for a family reunion and The Thistle House was perfect. Just a block or so from Chardon square, our kids could ride their bikes freely on the sidewalks. We walked up to the square multiple times and it was just a mile from bike trail! The house had everything we needed and we really appreciated the extra touches like farm fresh eggs. Molly was very responsive with answering any questions we had. Highly recommend and we will keep The Thistle House in mind when we come back home to see family again!

This was the perfect place to stay for our family reunion. The house is charming and cozy and very clean. We loved the pops of color in all the rooms and how well stocked each room was. We really did not need to bring anything extra other than personal items. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a meal, bake a cake, etc. The neighborhood is beautifully landscaped and very close to the square. We would stay here again for sure!

An adorable, charming and well-loved cottage! It is very clean! Perfect for 6 adults. Cute town square where we went to the farmer's market and to dinner at local Bass Lodge. You won't be disappointed in The Thistle House!

Perfect for Our Chardon Visit

We were looking for a house with two bedrooms and two baths for a girlfriends getaway weekend to visit the Geauga County Maple Festival. Thistle was located easily within walking distance of the square as well as all local county attractions were easily accessible. I live in Atlanta now but grew up in Chardon.The house had character and comfort. While it was too cool to take advantage of the ample outside area, outdoor seating for warmer weather abounds. We did enjoy the front porch.We used the two downstairs bedrooms and did not move into the upstairs at all. Lots of room up there, but no bath and rather narrow stairs.The beds and bedding were good as was the towel supply and overall bathroom experiences. Great water pressure for showers and lots of hot water.The kitchen was well-supplied to allow for most cooking needs and included a small eat-in area.I liked the decor and felt this house provided us with fun memories of our Chardon weekend and I would stay there again if visiting Chardon with friends. Molly was extremely easy to work with and the house was everything we wanted and more. Very quiet too.

Cutest Little House!

We rented the Thistle House off Chardon Square to celebrate my friend's 60th birthday. A girls weekend. The house is adorable and was perfect for the 4 of us. Molly thought of everything and was great to communicate with. There were lots of extras from toothbrushes to the homemade quick bread she left for us. The weather was cold and rainy but if it wasn't, it would have been a quick walk to Chardon Square where we went to the spa and had coffee and then dinner later.

Charming house in charming town

We absolutely loved this house!! Incredibly comfy beds, kitchen stocked with everything you could need, great sheets and towels, and plenty of bath products. It was a short walk into town with a delicious coffee shop right on the square.

Such a charming stay!

We loved our stay at the Thistle House! The neighborhood was beautiful and felt very safe. The house was so charming, clean and comfortable. The owner was very accommodating as we requested an early check in and she was able to work with us. She even left some fresh eggs and zucchini bread!
