  • May 2016 Italian Court, Kutná Hora, Czech republic The Italian Court (Czech: Vlašský dvůr) is a palace in Kutná Hora. Originally, it was the seat of the Central Mint of Prague; it was named after the Italian experts who were at the forefront of the minting reform. The main area of the mint consisted of coin-makers-workshops, or Smithies, which were located around the courtyard, and the minting chamber, called “Preghaus”, where the Prague groschen were struck. After its reconstruction at the end of the 14th century, the Italian Court became a part-time Royal residence of Czech kings. Kutná Hora hosted the most important silver mines in the land from 14th to 16th century and the Prague groschen coin was the unified money instrument from 1300 to 1537 in the whole kingdom. The importance of the Mint and Kutná Hora has ceased in 16th century due to the cheaper import of silver from South America.

I checked out lots of hotels before booking the Hotel Grand and it lived up to my expectations. Great value for money, great location for my trip. Good menu for evening meal, breakfast could do with improving. would definitely stay again.

Staff and owner were amazing and very accomodating for my vegan friend for our meals. Our room was great. Only issue we both had was we both didn't like the pillow we slept on. Otherwise a greay stay.

Great accomodation

It's the best hotel in the city, by far. Everything there was excellent and I really recommend it. The breakfast is tasty and the rooms are clean and very spacious.
