"Super cool location - that’s what you would go here for right now. As reviews say, it’s a hotel that looks like its glory days were in the past and it’s waiting for some love. The staff (restaurant and front desk) weren’t super helpful, not sure what that was about. Not horrible, but I booked through Expedia a Fortress room, and the girl at the front desk moved me to the Guicho side (room 59). The room with the cracked window another reviewer mentioned. Not sure why she did this, but when I went back and asked nicely about it she moved me back to the Fortress side (room 25). These numbers were actually on my room card, scratched out, then scratched out again when I asked to be moved back. Saw both rooms and the Fortress room bathroom was definitely older but decently clean. A little bit of smell at times….maybe something from older pipes…..but not horrible if you aren’t too fussy and I felt the HUGE room and entryway and king bed and balcony and windows overlooking the pool and fortress walls and crashing waves more than made up for any wear and tear. I stayed two nights with a car (parking was fine but I came in later both nights and had no problem finding a spot) at the end of my trip around Portugal and it was exactly what I wanted. Beautiful views, amazing sounds from the ocean. Totally relaxing. Had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was average. Service very slow but only one staff so I get it. "From the moment I walked in I felt peaceful and pampered. I was greeted by the kindest staff; I was delighted to know that I’d been upgraded to a beautiful suite overlooking the sea. The suite was quite accommodating with many windows, a comfortable bed, and a big bathtub to relax with lovely products. I hope I have a chance to stay again in the future. I’ll definitely be back!"

"hotel is in a good location overlooking the marina and only a short walk into town with it's many restaurants and bars. The room was comfortable, however sea view rooms have stairs from the bathroom which we did not like, and no walk in shower just above the bath. The indoor pool was lovely and there is also an outdoor pool but umbrellas were limited unless you helped yourself as they were not set up (out of season!)."
