"Discrepancies between listing on VRBO and actual accommodations: refrigerator and microwave were in a common area, NOT in the room, as listed. It was difficult to find the switch for the gas fireplace which was the only heat in the room and it was very cold, window open, when we arrived late in the evening (host was notified of late arrival.) "We had a gorgeous Bungalow Suite which was perfect for my husband and me and our 9month old. My only complaint was they need new playpens. The board piece that the baby lays on was all broken so that you could feel the metal rail under it. How uncomfortable. The staff did find me a piece of foam to use but that woud be unsafe for a younger baby. I spoke to another mom there and she had the same problem. We enjoyed the pool, the restaurant, the gorgeous grounds and the restaurant across the street too. The staff was wonderful and took care of a suitcase and package that we had shipped to the hotel. They had them waiting in our room when we checked in. We can't wait to return and stay again on the "Sunny Side of Carmel". May - August it can be foggy and cool in Carmel-by-the-Sea, but sunny and warm/hot in the Valley. So stay in the valley if you want bigger hotel rooms, a resort feel and better weather. It's only 10 mins to the town of Carmel-by-the-Sea."

"Comfortable stay in a great location in Carmel. The place could use a bit of refreshing, and its missing some amenities like a gym or ice machines. TV is very small. Tub/shower water pressure is weak. The lounge is beautiful, but you can't have a snack or a drink there - seems like a lost opportunity. No elevators and narrow stairs makes dragging your luggage up the stairs a chore. Ask for help for sure if you are on the third floor and you've been traveling a long time to get there. The third floor is slanted, and the sign that basically says the hotel won't stand up to a earthquake says it all. The best days to stay in this hotel are behind us. Still and all, it seems like most of the places downtown would probably fall into this category, so maybe it comes with the territory."
