Plovers Rest at Cape Douglas

Located in the quiet coastal township of Cape Douglas, Plovers Rest is a beautiful eco-friendly home with access to fantastic coastal walks, snorkelling, and surf breaks nearby. Cape Douglas is a prime location for the fishing enthusiast and Plovers Rest has ample boat parking. Plovers Rest is the perfect location to relax and unwind. Cape Douglas is located approximately 12km from Port MacDonnell and 35km from Mount Gambier.


Plovers Rest is a fully equipped, eco-friendly home. The beach is accessible from a path across the road. Plovers Rest is situated where the coast meets rural farm land, with beautiful views of grazing pasture from the back of the home.


The Douglas Point Conservation Park is nearby and offers breathtaking views of the coast. Featuring exposed limestone, small sandy beaches and dense coastal vegetation, it makes for fantastic walking.

Serenity plus
Gorgeous little house, well equipped and ultra clean. Our host left provisions for a cooked breakfast, and also a box of chocolates which was totally unexpected but very welcome. Very affordable, would definitely recommend as a peaceful getaway

Such a relaxing place!
We absolutely loved our stay at Plovers Rest. It was such a peaceful environment with cattle wandering over the back fence and a sea view out the front. A lovely modern home with a beautiful bathroom. We will definitely come and stay again.

Amazing hideaway
Loved our stay, peaceful and relaxing. Best of both worlds, rural at the back door and the beach at the front. Easy communication with the owner who was very generous with all the little extras.

Country meets Coast.
We really appreciated the opportunity to stay in Joy's lovely house. It was spotless and full of provisions for a very comfortable stay. We loved the peace and quiet and the lovely walks along the coastline. One day, we hope to return and strongly recommend Plover's Rest to other travellers. It is a perfect place to stop when travelling from Victoria to South Australia.

Above and beyond!
I cannot say enough about this property! It’s in the perfect location, is brand new and spotless, and Joy went to every measure to make sure we had an amazing stay. She gave us detailed information on where to shop, eat, directions, etc etc and we were even greeted by chocolates and a bottle of wine!! Forgot your body wash? No problem! Right down to the picnic basket in the cupboard, everything we never thought to bring was available. I’ve never stayed anywhere with this level of service. We found the nicest beach nearby was just a quick walk at the end of the road (Shelly Beach) - perfect for a quick dip and an incredible view for sunset.

Very nice property in a lovely location
My wife and I were looking for a place to relax for a well and this was the perfect spot. Surrounded by green fields and only meters to the water, this was exactly what we were after. Port MacDonnell is also nice and close for great pizza and a nice cafe. Overall a great experience
