A Cozy Retreat in the Woods
Located just off KY Hwy 15 in Campton, Kentucky, this one-bedroom retreat is a tasteful blend of modern decor with rustic roots creating the perfect setting for couples looking to relax, reconnect, and experience a nostalgic camp-like escape in the heart of the Red River Gorge area.
Step into the warmth of Bearcat Ridge and enjoy panoramic views of the forest from every corner of the open-concept living space. Whether you're sipping morning coffee, crafting in the cozy leather chair, or unwinding with a movie, the cabin’s tranquil setting offers the perfect backdrop. Enjoy unique touches like a Bluetooth turntable to play your favorite vinyls, a Wi-Fi projector and screen for movie nights, and a collection of books and craft supplies to inspire creativity and relaxation.
The cabin is centrally located just minutes from some of Eastern Kentucky’s most iconic natural attractions such as Natural Bridge State Park, Underground Adventure and climbing areas Lady Slipper, Emerald City, and Global Village. Explore the sandstone arches of Natural Bridge State Park or take on over 600 miles of trails in the Daniel Boone National Forest, including the guest-favorite Auxier Ridge Trail. Mill Creek Lake, just a short drive away, offers opportunities for kayaking and fishing, with rentals available in the summer months.
Adventure seekers will find plenty to enjoy as well. Soar through the treetops on a zipline tour, test your skills off-roading along the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway, or paddle through the region’s underground cave system. For a lighter afternoon activity, enjoy a game of mini golf at a nearby course.
Inside the cabin, the open-plan living area is filled with natural light and wooded views through large windows. The sectional couch and live-edge coffee table create a comfortable space to unwind, and the wooden bookshelves and chest filled with crafts, a turntable, and a wireless phone charger add charm and functionality. The fully equipped kitchen includes a stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, and all necessary cookware and utensils. Enjoy meals or snacks at the pine dining table.
The bedroom features a spacious king bed with nostalgic lantern lighting and a Natural Bridge Sky Lift-inspired ski chair that’s perfect for relaxing with a book or capturing a photo. A dedicated desk area makes remote work possible if duty calls, and a wardrobe rack offers plenty of storage. Step directly onto the deck through the patio door to take in the fresh mountain air. Bed linens are provided for your stay.
The bathroom offers a spacious, tiled walk-in shower for a spa-like feel, with fresh towels included. Step outside to the expansive deck furnished with comfortable seating and a propane fireplace and a propane gas grill — the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or wind down after a day of hiking. A fire pit just off the deck creates an inviting space for evening conversations and s’mores..
Guests have full access to the cabin, with the exception of one locked owner’s closet. Entry is keyless, using a door code provided in your guest instructions. Wi-Fi is included, with login information also shared in advance of your stay.
Please note: the driveway is steep and gravel, with plenty of parking either at the top or bottom. If you park at the bottom, there are no stairs required to enter the cabin. All roads in the development are gravel and involve a couple of hill climbs. A 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle and confident driver is a must to access this cabin, but the payoff is worth the effort!
The cabin runs on filtered well water. Occasionally, the water may carry a light sulfur smell — completely harmless and usually temporary. However, for your convenience, we suggest bringing bottled water and bagged ice, as there is no ice maker in the cabin.
Whether you’re seeking quiet forest views, a romantic getaway, or an adventure-filled weekend, Bearcat Ridge is the perfect base for your Eastern Kentucky experience.
A well trained pet is welcome with a pet Fee.

The cabin was very cute. It would have been nice to have curtains though. It says the cabin is private, but you can see 4 other cabins nearby, especially one right above this one. It was peaceful and lovely listening to the birds. It would be nice if the cabin had Kleenex, salt, more than two rolls of toilet paper. These things would make the stay better. The property is dug up a lot and I found a bunch of glass bottles and cans not to far from the cabin. They aren't kidding about 4 wheel drive. It is quite precarious getting down to the cabin. There are also some critters living in the wall of the bedroom. I wasn't happy that the cabin was still being cleaned when I arrived almost two hours after check in time. The company that rents this out was kind, but it took a lot of tries to contact them. I had driven from WI and was tired. They did refund a small portion of the rental fee. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The Red River Gorge is a beautiful place to hike as well.
