The Neighborhood:

Llanberis sits at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is renowned as a base from which walkers, climbers, mountain-bikers and even rail-passengers can explore the wonder of this ancient mountain. Llanberis has grown since Victorian times, in conjunction with one of the two lakes that sandwich it, Llyn Padarn. Llanberis was a slate mining town and quarried slate from the mountain across the lake itself. Now, the redundant slate quarries merge with the surrounding lakes and forests to provide something of interest for all, whatever the weather. The 800-acre Padarn Country Park is the perfect place to explore what the countryside and the local heritage have to offer, including two sites of Special Scientific Interest, a local nature reserve and a wide range of water-sports.
