The boathouse was awesome! The view of Lake Simcoe is unbeatable and the sunset was amazing. The water was warm but bring water shoes if you wish to swim near the dock. The host provides lots of water toys to make the lake enjoyable. We will look to return here next season for sure! Thank you John for a great getaway.
Very comfortable arrangement, host is extremely nice and helpful. During the summer months it may get a little hot since there is no ac, but there are multiple fans provided. The water was extremely clear and easy access, with some provided pool floats.Very beautiful and worth the money, highly recommend!
Our family had a wonderful stay in the gorgeous boathouse over looking the beautiful lake. John was so accomodating and super friendly. We're so glad we chose to stay here instead of a local hotel!
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at John’s cottage for 2 nights, and we really enjoyed it. Water was beautiful, and everything we needed was supplied to us, including water toys, firewood, kitchen supplies, etc. Would definitely like to come back here in the future!
We really liked staying here. Ad says it’s just a boat house but it’s so much more. With 3 decks and all the amenities you could ask for on a lake side property. John was a great host and always quick to respond to questions. We will definitely stay here again in the future.
This boathouse is sweet and just as described. It is small but just the right size for our family of 4. The view of the lake is beautiful. There is lots of out door space to use when the weather is good. John the host was more than helpful with everything we needed.
I recommend this spot for a cozy get away.
This is a beautiful property. My friends and I had an awesome two nights here, enjoying the water and taking in the gorgeous views. John was very friendly, helpful and laid back. Yes there are a lot of spiders with it being on the dock. One of us has quite the fear of spiders so John sprayed all around the boat house and this helped a bit. There is no shower so longer stays would be tough, but ample bedding is provided and everything you need kitchen wise.
Just back from. 3 night getaway with a friend at this gem of a spot on Lake Simcoe. We both enjoyed the cottage along with the lake views, sunsets and shooting stars and campfires each night. John was a great host and was even impressed that we started our own campfire with 1 match. He ensured we had all the kindling and firewood needed. We will be back for sure. Thank you for a great 1st Vrbo experience. P.s. we are not afraid of a few spiders on window screens. Look forward to our next visit.
If you go soon check out the local sunflower farm.

Beautiful Boathouse with some quirks
My two best friends and I stayed at this boat house for 3 days, 2 nights. We had a good stay and the space was good for what we were looking for. John was a great host and a very friendly and personable individual.
Good points: Beautiful views of lake Simcoe, it truly is just lovely to sit by the water. John has a bunch of water toys etc for your use. The water is very clean and shallow, you just need water shoes for the rocks (which John does provide if needed).
The kitchen is great. Lots of utensils etc
Bad: Just the overall cleanliness was a bit lacking. The bathroom could have been wiped down better, stuff under the kitchen counter on the floor etc. The king bed has a firm mattress (which is fine) but! There is no mattress cover, bed bug encasement, no pillow protectors etc...which is fine for a personal home, but a high turn over rental should probably have those basics.
Also, the railings and stairs need to be secured.
*This part is not in Johns control, just something to note. There is a lot of train traffic. Its a residential area, therefore the trains have to let out a long a progressive blast when they are on approach and making their way through. Its loud, unpredictable and we heard a train pass around 12:45am and as early as 5am
The Ugly:...Spiders...many many spiders insif you are okay with that, great. If not, look elsewhere. Its just the area and they do get inside, so just note that.
Nice space just needs maintenance.
The place was clean and felt like home. John was responsive and attentive and we can't wait to stay here again. The sunset we saw on the second day was breathtaking. Had a great time and we'll definitely be back.
This place is Amazing! John is cool and doesn't bother you. The water was fantastic and we didn't want to leave! I am hopefull to get to go back next summer.
The boathouse is private, rustic and very cozy. We had a wonderful time, great weather followed by magnificent sunsets every night! John is a great host and very helpful. We plan on returning.
Beautiful view and John is a great host. Goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. Very private and relaxing oasis. Enjoyed the amazing sunset.
