Cottage in Barnard
Charming Vermont cottage, just up the road from Silver Lake and the Barnard General Store. Bright, warm, and welcoming, this home has all the comfort you need to make it feel like home away from home.
This home is private and secluded for your getaway and also close to all Vermont has to offer including Woodstock, Killington, Montpelier, and Burlington.
We love this space and have taken time and care into making sure you love it just as much. We have filled the space with items that have brought us joy from the butcher block that made its way from California 30 years ago, to the radio that a friend gave us, to the quilts handmade by the host, and all the way down to the little bits and pieces we have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores throughout our lives. We hope you feel the warmth and comfort as your relax in to your stay.
The home is open concept with a large space downstairs for kitchen, dining, and living areas and a large loft like space upstairs that includes two beds, separated by a lounging area.
The home is heated with radiant floor heating so your feet never get cold. In the evenings, for a little extra warmth, cozy up next to the gas fireplace.
There is a great office space with beautiful views of the garden. It gets nice light and paired with our super fast wifi (100mbps), it makes this home a perfect place to work from away.
In true Vermont fashion, there are no window coverings or shades. Not to worry, this home is on 7 acres, set back from the road, and the neighbors are out of sight.
Located on the North Rd, this home is surrounded by stunning views and farmland, in the heart of Barnard.
Head on down to the General Store for their World Famous Pancakes or a scoop of ice cream before heading off on any of the many outdoor adventures this area has to offer.

We really enjoyed everything about our stay at this cottage. We spent our anniversary there, we were comfortable, and had everything we needed. We made numerous visits to the General Store down the road and the pancakes were delicious! Woodstock was beautiful this time of year and we were delighted to see fresh snow several days we were there. Kevin and Sarah are wonderful hosts! We will certainly stay in the cottage again if we venture back that way in the future.
Just a fantastic place for a winter getaway in the Vermont woods. Kevin and Sarah are wonderful and thoughtful hosts who have addressed every detail. My stay coincided with some wintry weather down to -5 F with wind and snow, but I was cozy and comfortable with the radiant heat floor, the well-equipped kitchen, smart TV, a luxurious queen bed, and great bathrooms with thick towels and plenty of hot water (not to mention the clawfoot tub!). The location is great for access to Silver Lake for ice fishing and the surrounding forest for cross country skiing. The Barnard General Store is 5 mins away with everything you need and is just an institution- hasn’t changed a bit since I first visited in 1990. A really fun and beautiful place to stay. 10/10 highly recommended!!!
This hidden gem was perfect for me and my husband. Every detail had been attended to, and the home is lovely. We loved being away from the crowds, yet close enough to visit all the local towns. When we return to this area, we will definitely book this home.
Charming cottage with great ambiance. We needed to be close to the lake so we could see our kids who have a cabin there. The house is perfect and we really enjoyed the stay.
This house is wonderful! Warm, clean, and full of light.
Beds are comfy, kitchen is great, radiant floor heat is luxurious.
Owners Kevin and Sarah are very generous and helpful!
I will recommend this place to all my friends and family - but (selfishly) I also want it to be available for when I want to return.
I love being here. Thanks, Kevin and Sarah - this house is very special~
The Barnard home is peaceful, beautiful, and quiet. The delicious gardens attract humming birds and butterflies. It is beautifully sited so there is almost always light flowing in, as well as great ventilation, even on hot days. Very, very clean. The downstairs terra cotta floor retains cold in the summer, and I think there is heat under that floor during the winter. Love the area - moments from Silver Lake, and not far from spectacular swimming holes on the White River.
Thank you Sarah for sharing this nice little house for our skiing trip. It's very unique and appealing. Thank you for taking care of snow removal after the snow storm. We had great experience and very manageable drive to Killington ski area. (advise to all who rent this house for Killington skiing - Skyship Gondola Lodge is the closest to the house, takes about 25 min)
We had a lovely stay over a long weekend. The cabin very clean and comfortable. It’s in a pretty spot in the mountains, up the road from the Barnard General Store. Easy access to Woodstock. Sarah and Kevin were great hosts and very responsive and easy to work with. It was great for our small family of 3, would definitely return!
Had an amazing time at this property! First time visiting Vermont and Killington and this property did not disappoint! Would definitely come back here, easy drive, safe location, wonderful layout of both floors!
This property was immaculate and cozy and well situated a few miles from Woodstock, VT. Sarah was a lovely host and provided everything a guest could need. The house was small but well designed.
House is wonderful, in a great location for visiting surrounding areas. It was very roomy and spotless with a beautiful front garden and porch where we sat and read, enjoying the cool summer air. Great communications with Sarah and Kevin - super nice, welcoming hosts. Highly recommend!
We had a great weekend. The house was in clean condition with everything the two of us needed. We enjoyed a meal cooked in and one at our favorite spot, Worthy Burger, just a short drive away, as well as some hiking and running on local trails. We are only sad the weather was not amenable to using the outdoor shower! Thanks for a great stay.
We had a *lovely* time staying at Sarah and Kevin's cottage. Very cozy and warm spot in a great part of VT. S + K provided helpful detailed instructions re. access and were all around very accommodating, responsive, and welcoming. Would definitely recommend!
House is exactly as advertised. Open floor plan and secluded. My parents and I used it while snowmobiling for a long weekend (no direct trail access). It fits 3 people perfectly. Very clean, minimal amount of stuff in the house, but needed nothing extra.
I spent over a week here on a working vacation during the winter, and couldn't have picked a better spot. The house was warm, cozy, had a great wifi connection, and was situated about 40 mins from Killington. Five mins from a great general store. Already planning a return trip!
We LOVED this cottage!!! It is both spacious and cozy all at once! There are whimsical personal touches throughout and mix of clean lines and layered textures that come together to create a sunny, cheerful, relaxed vibe. The quilts, the games, the books, the windows, the little gas stove - just as charming as can be!!! Perfect for a couple or a small family! We highly recommend it!
