Wander the Otter Falls trail system (one mile), spend a day at Hawksnest Snow Tubing & Zipline (two miles), ski Sugar Mountain (six miles) and Beech Mountain (14 miles), visit Grandfather Mountain State Park (eight miles), or take a ride on the Tweetsie Railroad (14 miles). Appalachian State University and the towns of Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock are all within 12 miles as well.
