This was such a quiet and serene spot for an end-of-summer family beach getaway. We enjoyed playing in the water behind the property. We used both kayaks and the paddleboard. The kids loved the sandbox under the house when it rained. This is the perfect spot for a variety of ages to enjoy.

Perfect beach house. Updated interior a big plus with comfy couches for family movie night. 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. Kitchen and living room well laid out. The deck overlooking bay makes for relaxing sunsets. Kitchen well stocked for cooking, with Food Lion and Sunrise Seafood Store conveniently nearby.

Perfect for our family

This cottage was a perfectly cozy fit for our family. Absolutely loved our stay, and the sunset views were stunning. Everything we needed and more. Would stay again for sure!

Great place for family

We had a great stay! One small hiccup - the electric lock stopped working and we were locked out for a short time. The finished area with the sandbox downstairs was a huge hit with the littles!! The backyard is large, the water isn’t very accessible for little ones, but there is a day use beach about 5 miles from the house. Very nice home and very comfortable.

Excellent house.

Great location on the sound. Well decorated and equipped with everything you need. Only downside was the one bathroom. Might be an issue for more than four people. Would definitely stay again.

Clean House, Great Location, Quiet w/ Lots of Amenities in Avon

Great, clean, cozy 3 BR / 1 Bath house in a quiet location on the Outer Banks in Avon! Amazing sound side access and close drive to all of the ORV beaches. Comfy beds, clean bathroom with nice shower, fully stocked kitchen and plenty of room to relax (with a pull out Futon for another bed). We spent most of our time fishing the outer banks, but I could see this being a fun place to just relax in the summer (or anytime), with beautiful sunset views and all sorts of amenities for families and adults! (paddle board, kayak's, fishing rods, beach toys, chairs, etc.) Host was super friendly and easy to get access code and check in. 10/10 - Would stay here again.

Sunsets on the Outer Banks

Very nice and cozy home away from home right on the sound. House is very clean, neat, comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing stay at the beach. We enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets from the large back deck.

Take my money!!

We absolutely loved this property!! It was beautiful, clean, fully stocked with everything you needed to cook or grill (good quality too, not someone’s leftover campfire pan). The beds were comfortable and the bedroom windows overlooked the water. I literally could live on the deck and just stare at the view. The enclosed deck under the house is great (except for the mosquitoes). I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Beautiful stay

The waterfront location is just beautiful on this property. Inside it’s as described and the underground snug area is perfect for escaping the mid afternoon heat and/or an evening. Just take bug spray. Lots of it! Overall we loved our stay. Would 100% recommend

Beautiful cottage and views!

From the moment we stepped into the cottage we were so impressed. Every room was beautiful and lacked for nothing. The beds were very comfortable also. The views were incredible from the back deck and dock. We enjoyed the paddle board and kayaks provided. If there was one drawback it was the lack of a table with chairs to sit at so we could play the games we brought with us. There is an island with stops which can cover quick meals however. Overall it is a beautiful property and the host was always quick to respond with any questions.

Location for fun & family!

We stayed with 3 of our grown children during the early Spring. Sunset Cottage offered exactly the right location for easy water sport access on the Sound side and walking distance to town, beach, or the pier. The perfect size for family. Loved the shady option of the ground level covered deck. All aspects of decor and amenities were covered and Merle was quick to reply to any questions. Thanks for making of family holiday smooth and enjoyable.

Gorgeous views, peaceful stay!

Sunset Cottage was the ideal place for a relaxing Outer Banks getaway. Our family spent hours on the back deck catching up, and watching the water and a kite surfer or two, especially at sunset. It was so quiet! Then, when we wanted to explore, we were very close to Cape Hatteras lighthouse, and good food in Avon and Burton. We drove up to Duck one day to shop and explore, just about an hour away, and a very scenic drive. We cooked dinner in the cottage and had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the decorating in the cottage is airy and fun--it captures the beach vibe perfectly! Would love to come back!

Beautiful getaway on the Sound

This house did not disappoint. It was beautifully decorated and completely stocked with anything that you would need. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board that came with the house. The best part of the house was the underneath. We spent many hours down there relaxing and playing games. We are already planning our next vacation.

wonderful sunset cottage!

our stay here was so lovely, the house was stocked with absolutely everything you could possibly need! the location was perfect and allowed for such relaxation, very clean. the check in process was so simple and the owner’s were so reachable!! would definitely stay here again had so much fun!

Very Nice!

Very clean, cute and comfortable for our family of 5. We enjoyed playing in the sound (fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding), the morning views, and the amazing sunsets. We rented bikes and a golf cart to get to to the beach and back each day.
