Disappointing experience, not worth the hype
We stayed at this 4-star hotel based on the many glowing reviews, but unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the expectations.
The first issue started with the LED strip light in the bedroom — it wouldn't turn off completely. Even when "off", it emitted a constant glow, which meant I needed to use an airline-style eye mask just to get some sleep. Not what you expect from a hotel.
Things got worse around 03:00 in the morning when we were abruptly woken up by a horrific smell in the room. It was strong and unbearable. We called the front desk and, to their credit, they offered us a different room. However, the night porter told us we were “very lucky” this room was available — apparently, it was a popular room. I’m not sure how feeling “lucky” at 3AM with kids and luggage is the appropriate reaction. We didn’t want to switch rooms in the middle of the night, but had no real choice.
The staff were polite, but the compensation offered was minimal — they waived the €10 tourist tax. That felt like a token gesture, not a serious acknowledgment of the disruption and discomfort we experienced. The beds are to small too.
This hotel might check the boxes on paper, but from our stay, it did not deliver 4-star performance. The small details matter — especially when they affect your ability to sleep — and the lack of proper resolution left us disappointed. Would not recommend, will not return.
