This hotel is a 'hidden gem' within a few blocks of the Omonia Metro Station. The room and bed was very comfortable. The front desk is always staffed and they are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast each day was a real pleasure!
Wonderful hotel. The staff were amazing. 24/7 at the desk and have to be buzzed in. Location is in a busy part of the city that’s not upscale but felt safe walking as a small group to things around.
Clean and comfortable place. We had a good time at this hotel. The Hotel location is nice as it is within walking distance to Monastiraki square ( about 10 minutes).
You’re not stuck in the tourist crowds, but you’re still close to everything. The area is safe, with local spots around. The hotel itself was immaculate and felt brand new.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Alva hotel. It was very easy to find from the train station and within walking distance to many sights. I had the unfortunate experience of being pickpocketed in Athens and my phone was stolen on Thurs Aug 30th. The man working the front desk that night (I wish I remembered his name for sure but I think it was Nikoloas) was amazing! He helped us contact the police and stayed with us hours beyond the end of his shift and followed up with us the next day. The theft was a very upsetting experience but it's because of this man we felt like we had a friend in Athens.
Alva was exactly what we hoped for—peaceful, clean, and beautifully decorated. The bed was incredibly soft, the lighting was warm and relaxing, and the staff treated us like old friends. We truly felt taken care of.
A beautiful and well-thought-out space in an unbeatable location. The attention to detail, from the decor to the amenities, made it feel special. I stayed for one night and wish I had more time!
Impeccably clean! From the lobby to the rooms, everything was spotless. I truly appreciated the attention to detail. Super comfortable beds too – felt like home!
There’s a simplicity to this hotel that really resonated with me. It doesn’t try to impress with luxury—just delivers exactly what matters. Clean space, good energy, and helpful people.
I thought the property and staff were all good. I would suggest some type of shelving or a drawers. We couldn't unpack our luggage and it was really inconvenient living in and out of our suitcase.
I didn't have breakfast so I am unable to comment.
The location worked. It waa centrally located.
I couldn’t have asked for a better location. The hotel is within walking distance of all the must-see attractions, including the Acropolis, Plaka, and Monastiraki. I didn’t have to rely on taxis or public transport at all – everything was just a short stroll away!
The design was contemporary, and everything looked clean and fresh.Value for money.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The hotel was fine, but is typical of many Athens hotels that have been converted cheaply and quickly. The lift was an old fashioned cage lift, while certain fittings in the room were cheap or poorly done (e.g. the bedroom door scraped against the floor and didn’t open fully).
The bed was comfy enough, the shower had good water pressure and immediately got to a high temperature, and the staff were always really helpful.
Ultimately, it worked for us for a single night, but it didn’t have a holiday feel, and depends on if you pay over €100.

Liked: Staff & service
Staff was very good and very helpful…
I didn’t like that hotel door cannot be opened even when using the card at all time…. I had to use the ring and wait till staff open the door from the inside … this gave the feeling the area is unsafe -note: I don’t have any issue walking in the area by myself even at late evening hours -.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
The property is modern and the beds are comfortable, but it’s extremely noisy if your room faces the busy main road bring earplugs. The area feels a bit sketchy and dirty, especially when walking to Plaka or major sites, though it is well lit at night.
A major issue: I saw the front desk turn off the lights on guests still eating breakfast at 10:25 AM, telling them it ends at 10:30. Instead of just stopping food service, he argued with them and only turned the lights back on after complaints. Very poor treatment.
Overall, I recommend staying closer to the Acropolis for similar prices, you’ll find cleaner, safer areas and a better experience.
The service was excellent. From the front desk to the maid service. Breakfast was fresh and the friendly server/chef always cooked up an omelette if desired. She always greeted with a smile and “good morning “.
One of the worst stays in Greece! You walk in and you can’t breathe, I tried to cancel it and they wouldn’t refund me. It’s located in one of the worst areas in Athens very sketchy! Needs updating and it is not what’s advertised, it seemed like I was catfished from what’s presented online. But it was 13 mins walk from a better area but wouldn’t book this if you are a female alone because it’s really sketchy area.
