Absolutely loved our stay at the Bowline. It is walkable to everything we wanted to do while visiting Astoria. Staff was friendly and informative. Sea lions on the deck was an added bonus to our stay. We enjoyed the outdoor steam pods. Our stay exceeded our expectations.

The property is adorable, but the staff was less than helpful. During check in, guests are provided with a glass of bubbly, which is a nice touch. While we were checking in and drinking our bubbly, a staff member needed to move past an older member of our party. The staff member simply walked up to a 78 year old woman and demanded she “move”. In fairness, the front desk is in the middle of their bar area, so I’m sure we were in the way, but some manners would have gone a long way. Also during the process, I asked if the hotel was not busy, if I could pay to upgrade to a view room and was told no, that I would have to call Expedia, because they monitor the room types and the hotel can not change them. Perhaps this is this is the case, but I have never heard that before or after that one night of our trip. During our check out, the same older member of our group asked the rude staff if it would be possible for her to call us a taxi and was told “No, I don’t do that. Call one yourself”. I do not typically leave negative reviews, the reason I am doing so in this case is because the owners of this property have obviously spared no expense renovating the place and they deserve to know what’s happening during the guest experience.

Perfect location along the water with wonderful views of the river. Very conveniently located along the boardwalk and easy walk into downtown area. Friendly and helpful staff.

I really enjoyed the property. Cute room, plenty of space, great views to watch the ships come in and just relax on the balcony. I had a few minor issues that were easy to ignore. My room was directly over the bar so you can hear/feel the music until it closes. Fruit flies in the bathroom was the only thing that was hard to ignore.

This place had everything going for it. Centrally located, on the pier with beautiful accommodations. But the lobby is also a bar/restaurant which meant music thumped into our room late at night. Also, walls are so thin we heard everything, I mean everything next door. Too much.

The hotel is a great design and has a high quality feel. Loved the room especially the view, the fire and the coffee !! Staff are awesome. Beautiful views out across the Columbia River. Easy walking to downtown. Really enjoyed my stay.

Our room was fantastic and on the second floor overlooking the water with fireplace. Great bar but a little pricey to have drinks and snacks. Would recommend for sure.

The bed is very soft and it made it hard to get a good night sleep. the staff was helpful and friendly. I was hoping for some negotiating on the room change price, and the response was not considered. I have stayed at this hotel several times and it's a cool place, however, I think it is getting to pricey for what it should be.

BEWARE……Dirty, flying bugs, noisy and much more. They provide a white noise machine and ear plugs… need I say more. Sorry forgot to mention dirty towel! Bed was so soft we got NO Sleep… called front desk at 2 AM.called they offered to bring blankets to firm up bed. Yes, they know beds have no support. Also the bottom sheet was ripped and so wrinkled we are not sure they had been washed. Ladies you may not have enough water pressure to rinse the shampoo out of your hair. I was told the general manager would be in at 8am … curiously she wasn’t available. They also tried to charge an additional $10 for in room complementary coffee. Beware!

When I checked in, I was really excited to stay here. The location was great, everything seemed well-appointed, and the people were nice, but then things took a turn for the worse. The walls between rooms were so thin that you could hear everything, including conversations from the rooms, next door and people walking down the hall. We had to seek alternative lodging elsewhere for a peaceful night's sleep.

Staff was great. accommodation was what we expected. Was clean and comfortable. Shower water pressure could have been better in our room. Overall, enjoyed and would stay again before any of the chains.

A wonderfully restored old building that captures the charm of waterfront living in Astoria so nice to wake up, looking out over the Columbia river watching the Cormorant, ducks and sea lions covort.

Very nice rooms, cute little bar with very good appetizers. Rooms have a Euro feel. Only drawback if you aren’t a morning person would be the Sea Lions. They can be pretty loud (we enjoyed it).

Always a wonderful stay. Staff is so kind and helpful. Barrel Saunas are wonderful! Sea lions are always a treat - woke up to them hanging out on our patio watching the sun rise!

You will not regret staying at Bowline Hotel - it is a unique experience, from the views to the history to the marine life. And numerous restaurants within walking distance - we cannot wait until we have the opportunity to return.

Good but has a few issues
Had messed up when booking and called the person said not a problem but when we got there they wanted names and said they may not be able to help- eventually she figured it out which was nice. Our room was just outside the bar area and Saturday night was really loud to where it was difficult to sleep. Also had a funky smell kinda oily when you enter. Besides that the bed is sunken in but somewhat comfy- you can see old stains on counters by coffee area but overall clean. The seal ions were a neat part- make sure you find street parking prior to go to your room cause driving around can be tedious hunting for a spot.

Read the fine print, you have to park yourself off property. You can pay an extra $15 a day to have them park for you. I suspect during peak times, off street parking isn’t easy. Not sure the amenities are worth an extra $10 a day. We brought our own coffee, there was soap. I’m not sure what other amenities. They did have robes and a sauna, maybe those. Just seemed strange to not have it included in the price. We did enjoy our stay, and the location was awesome. These extra charges just seemed petty.

Good Morning Martha! We apologize for any miscommunication regarding parking and the amenity fees. We do donate part of the amenity fees to local projects and Kind Traveler. It provides our teas/coffees, saunas etc.. Parking is always available wether it is street or valet. We do hope you visit us again soon for a better experience!
