About this property

Rainier Base Camp: Modern Cabin, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Fenced Yard, 5 Min to NP

  • Experience the Pacific Northwest at our cozy, modern cabin, just 5 minutes from Mt. Rainier's Nisqually entrance, the park entrance that stays open in winter. Make this your Base Camp for snowshoeing and snow play at Paradise (about 30 minutes, when there's snow) or trails the rest of the year, then unwind in the hot tub, by the fire pit or next to the gas fireplace.

    Property Highlights:
    - Private Hot Tub & Fire Pit
    - Gas Fireplace, 65" Smart TV & Sonos
    - Fully Fenced Backyard, Patio & Grill
    - Fully Stocked Kitchen
    - PNW Themed Bedrooms
    - Kids' Loft w/ TV & Games
    - WFH Desk & 1 Gig Fiber Internet
    - Self Check-In (Smart Lock)
    - Outdoor Ping Pong / Picnic Table & Yard Games
    - Private Community Lake Access
    - Front Exterior Security Camera

IN WINTER (Nov–Mar): The Nisqually entrance, 5 minutes away, is the park entrance that stays open in winter and leads to Paradise (about 30 minutes), which has a snow play area when there's enough snow. Whittaker Mountaineering nearby rents snowshoes, sleds and tubes. Tire chains must be carried in the park Nov 1 to May 1, so check road conditions before you head up. Then come back to a soak in the hot tub, a fire in the fire pit, and a movie by the gas fireplace.

THE AREA: Nestled a mile off State Route 706 E, this cabin is just 5 minutes from Mt. Rainier's Nisqually entrance and 30 minutes from Paradise. Surrounded by the best of the Pacific Northwest: hiking trails, serene lakes, rivers, forests, and majestic mountains. Guests also have access to a private community lake about a quarter mile away for swimming or canoeing (BYOC), plus a picnic area and playground. The lake is best enjoyed spring through fall.

    THE PROPERTY

Living Room: Unwind in a thoughtfully designed space featuring a 65-inch Smart TV, Sonos sound system, cozy gas-powered fireplace, air conditioning (the cabin's AC unit is here), a ceiling fan, a C-shaped side table for working from the couch, and ample seating for everyone.

Kitchen & Dining: Fully equipped with all essentials and a touch of luxury, from cookware and utensils to a Keurig with complimentary K-cups, blender, tea kettle, and spice rack. The dining table seats six, with additional seating for four at the kitchen peninsula.

Master Bedroom ("Base Camp"): On the main floor, a stunning wood slat accent wall and nature-inspired decor set the tone in this spacious room with a King bed, cozy swivel chair, side tables, dresser, and ample closet space stocked with a pack 'n play (mattress pad and linens included), hangers, a fan and a suitcase rack.

Primary Bathroom: Located on the main floor near the master, this bathroom has a walk-in shower, a full washer/dryer in its closet, luxury toiletries, and all the essentials. Kid-friendly features like a step stool are thoughtfully provided.

Loft: Arrive upstairs to a versatile retreat perfect for kids, with a sofa that pulls out into a Queen bed, a 55-inch Smart TV, a C-shaped side table for laptop work, bean bags, and a variety of board games to keep everyone entertained.

Guest Bedroom 1 ("Summit"): With a stunning accent wall echoing the Cascades, this room features a Queen bed, cozy seating, a dresser and a closet with hangers, a fan and a suitcase rack.

Guest Bedroom 2 ("Treehouse"): Feel like you're sleeping among the treetops in this playful room with a bunk bed: a Queen on the bottom and a Twin XL on top. Equipped for both kids and adults, it also features a full desk, leather accent chair, and closet with hangers, a fan and a suitcase rack.

Secondary Bathroom: Upstairs between the guest bedrooms, this bath offers a tub shower, premium toiletries, and plenty of fresh towels.

Downstairs Closets: One closet holds extra linens and pillows, while another is stocked with spa towels, ping pong paddles, and a power outage kit with flashlights and glow sticks. One owner's closet stays locked.

Backyard: A private, fully fenced outdoor oasis with something for every season: a string-lit patio with rocking chairs and a propane grill, a hot tub always warmed and ready for a soak, and an outdoor ping pong table that doubles as a picnic table. Gather around the wood-burning fire pit (bring your own firewood), surrounded by Adirondack chairs, or enjoy yard games stored in the shed.

    GOOD TO KNOW
    - Groceries: Ashford has no full grocery store, only small general stores with basics. Larger stores are in Eatonville (about 30 min) and Packwood (about 40 min), so stock up on the way in.
    - Cooling: AC is one ductless unit in the living room, which also has a ceiling fan. Each bedroom has its own heating dial and a fan in the closet.
    - Road: The cabin sits on Skate Creek Rd N, about a mile off SR 706, so you may hear an occasional passing car.
    - Cell service is spotty in the area. Please have your arrival details and door code before you set off. The cabin has 1 Gig fiber internet.
    - Working: One full desk (in the Treehouse) plus C-shaped side tables for laptop work from the couch in the living room and loft. No monitor.
    - Parking: Room for 3 cars on site.
    - Fire pit: Wood-burning. Firewood isn't supplied, so bring or buy some on the way, follow any burn bans, and put the fire out after each use.
    - Hot tub: Please close the cover after every use. Children under 12 need adult supervision. If anything seems off on arrival, message us right away and we'll send someone out.
    - Trash: Pickup is Tuesday. Staying Monday night? Please take the bin to the curb Monday evening.
    - Kids: Pack 'n play, baby gates, outlet covers and a step stool are provided.

Visit to Mt. Rainier

Lovely house, extremely clean and relaxing space. If i could give it a higher rating for location/proximity to Mt. Rainier I would. Super simple to access the park, close to local restaurants and supplies.

Spring break in the mountains

We enjoyed two nights during spring break in the mountains. The beds were comfy, the towels plump, the hot water hot. We hung around the fire pit and roasted marshmallows and took a dip in the hot tub. It was very relaxing and easy to be here.

Super clean and comfortable

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park. Very comfortable, exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated, well-equipped for grilling (really nice grill!) and cooking two dinners in the kitchen and space for 6 around the dining table. Highly recommended!

Best rental so far

This rental is very warm and inviting. It’s very well maintained and the pictures don’t do justice to how good the house looks. The check-in was very easy and the owner was very considerate when we asked for a early checkin due to an emergency. We enjoyed the hot tub as well. We loved our stay here and would come back again.

Mt. Rainier Visit

My wife and I stayed for 2 day trip to the National Park. The well appointed home was as advertised. Spacious, comfortable and secluded, and just 10 minutes to the Park’s Nisqually entrance. Great place to rest and relax after a long day of hiking. Would definitely return.

Lovely and very clean

The cabin was perfect for my family of 7 over Thanksgiving. It's so clean and everything is brand new. Beds were comfortable with nice bedding. The hot tub was very clean and new. The cabin location was great. It's only a few min away from the entrance of Mt Rainier. We fit 3 couples and a single very easily.

Total gem at the park entrance!

We loved our stay at this home! 5 mins from the park entrance! It was very clean and all of the furnishings were so chic! The beds and sofa were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were thankful to be able to do a load of laundry at the end of our stay and also for the hot tub after long days of hiking. The owner responded very quickly to any messages and was very helpful! Would choose to stay here again hands down if we made a second trip to Rainier!

Home away from home base camp

The cabin had all the things needed to make for a comfortable stay near Mount Rainer. Refreshing hot tub to soak in after day of hiking, gas fireplace for great ambiance, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, laundry and full-size kitchen. Charming rental cabin with additional amenities like outdoor fireplace and game table. Front and rear porches for relaxing with beverage of choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend to anyone. Owner correspondence was prompt and professional.

Perfect stay for our family

Bo's house was the cleanest we've rental we've ever had, and he was super quick to respond to any communication. The space was exactly as advertised, and my two kids loved the available games in the loft area. The space was also completely spotless. Really lovely stay overall, and my kids asked to go back even! It was too cold for us to use the outdoor space, but the outside area was really laid out and we want to return when it's warmer to use the hot tub and ping pong table. Highly recommend!

The perfect getaway to the mountains and nature!!

I couldn't recommend this home enough! The place was immaculate, very modern and probably one of the nicest rentals I've ever stayed in! Everything was to my partner and I liking. The home had everything my partner and I needed to cook, to BBQ, to just relax and have a true getaway experience. The home was on a very convenient location, only a short 2 minute drive into town and pretty close to Mt. Rainer for a nice little hike by the mountain. The surrounding neighborhood was very peaceful and quiet. The owner was very nice, responded very quickly to my inquiries and was very accommodating to tailor to my needs. Overall, my stay far exceeded my expectations for a weekend getaway in the mountains. Highly recommend!!

Hot tub was perfect. We loved using the fire pit both nights. The house is so cute and was perfect for our family. Plenty of kitchen utensils and plate wear. Stain remover was a great addition as we have kids and could get little spots out. Plenty of towels for everyone and lots is sleeping areas. A wonderful place to stay, we will definitely be looking at using it for future gatherings
