Lost Gem

Stunning hotel. So welcoming, so comfortable and so sylish and in a beautiful and tranquil setting too. Food was absolutely superb. So sad to learn that they are ceasing to trade. Very happy memories of a gem.

The setting is lovely. Unfortunately, the mattress in the round room in the oast house was very poor. On investigation of this we could clearly see and feel that the springs had no padding over them. When this was mentioned at check out to the elderly man that worked there the only response was “I’m sorry to hear that,” I would have been happy to have shown him but I presume he already knew what I was talking about. Also, the tv in our room wasn’t tuned and we couldn’t get it to tune. Such a shame as this is a beautiful place but we did book a room so we could sleep and we certainly didn’t!!

Not such a good stay this time

Lovely room but walls thin, I could hear everything in next room. WiFi was poor and the TV only had a few channels (no BBC1), and a broken remote control. However have stayed before and not had these issues, perhaps it is just that room. Owners are lovely and the bed very comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean.

Picturesque setting with really friendly and attentive staff. We have been coming to Elvey Farm for years, even before it was taken over. Lots of lovely places to eat. Perfect for a weekend away.

Just great! Fantastic room. Very clean, comfortable, quiet. Very good breakfast. Has a bar and a restaurant. Also has some of the nicest, most friendly cats you could meet. The one change I suggest is larger, light-blocking curtains.

What's not to like?????

Always my first choice when working in the area. Service is very friendly, evening meals and breakfasts are extremely good, rooms are well appointed clean and comfortable. I regard the prices as being very reasonable, in my experience i have paid more for similar or less in other places. Look forward to staying here again.

Tranquility awaits!

This hotel is absolutely stunning! A beautiful gem to be discovered in the Kent countryside. We, my husband and two daughters stayed here overnight before taking the Eurostar to Paris the next morning. It’s literally only 20 minutes away!! The rooms are rustic and charming, the wet room was beautifully finished, however the drain was not efficient enough and it soon became a rather soggy wet room, which I reported to reception the following morning and they were very apologetic and said they would deal with it. Our only other small point is personally we found the hotels own restaurant rather expensive, so we walked to the top of the lane and had a lovely meal at the local pub. Breakfast was delicious, with lovely choices, our daughters had dippy eggs, my husband the full English and I had scrambled eggs and salmon. Very good! We would definitely recommend this beautiful property and felt the family room price was worth it! £145 Thank you again!

Gezellig landelijk hotel op het platteland

jaren geleden waren wij hier ook geweest en waren benieuwd hoe het nu was. Inmiddels overgegaan in Italiaanse handen en dit was te zien aan de kaart. Veel Italiaanse gerechten. Grote kamers, prima bedden en douchefaciliteiten. Het geheel had wel een opknapbeurt nodig.

Disappointing

Booked one of the two caravans ... on the web site the pictures looked great and the description sounded ok. Reality was the caravan was dirty, poorly maintained ( the interior was falling apart and needed a refurb urgently), cramped, HAD NO RUNNING WATER DESPITE THE WEBSUTE AND BOOKING CONFIRMATION SAYING IT DID HAVE COLD RUNNING WATER, you couldn’t sit on the toilet unless you had the door open and your legs outside the toilet and the bed was a single - no way near a double and was to short to lie straight in. Price was £125 which was so overpriced for a cramped dirty caravan with no running water ! Felt like we were in someone’s garden shed. Check out after a few hours - expensive mistake - and not a great romantic break away and was glad to get home HOWEVET, owner and staff were amazing and the rest of the accommodation which was booked out by a wedding looked great Restaurant was lovely and food was top quality .. glad we stayed for dinner before checking out. Slightly disappointed we didn’t get a full or partial refund or a letter from owner as they were aware we checking out due to the caravan

One of the best places that I've ever stayed in

Went there for my partners birthday, as the right up on ghosts, story's I new that my partner would love, and yes we weren't disappointed as some thing strange in the night did happen, we stayed in the Whitstable room. it was lovely and clean and the food is second none, plus the family that run the hotel of the people that we met were very nice. Thank you.

Hotel in the country

Elvey farms is truly a little gem in the English countryside. It's beautiful, rustic, clean and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The grounds are gorgeously landscaped and the rooms channel old world charm while being comfortable and up to date. I would not stay anywhere else but here when we visit again.

Last minute summer holiday.

We booked this the day before we travelled as our holiday to France was cancelled that day causing great disappointment. Elvey Farm proved to be a great choice- picturesque, quiet and quirky in an interesting village (haunted, used for a well-known television series) with a lovely station and easy access to all parts of Kent. We stayed in a converted stable which was lovely and walked most evenings to the local pub. Nice breakfasts each morning. We ate once in the on-site Italian restaurant. This was really good- the only reason we didn't use the restaurant again was that we preferred to try different places and the restaurant was more of a 'special occasion' venue.

Unforgettable place.

What a place! The room was lovely; so much character and quality. I loved it. And the location was idyllic. The staff were friendly and the farm cats super friendly! It's a testament to a business when they leave guest books in each room - what confidence they must have in the experience they offer! And rightly so!

Over-rated accommodation and food - rude owners

CHECK OUT THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON TRAVEL SITES and stay away from this place unless you enjoy being shouted and gesticulated at by the elderly Italian owners. I honestly think they’ve lost the plot. Food is also over-priced for what it is. If you have to stay there - go down to the Rose and Crown at the end of the lane for dinner - food is good value and lovely staff. The elderly owners at Elvey Farm should quit the hospitality business and live out their days somewhere with limited human interaction - they deserve each other!
