Lovely rooms, spotlessly clean and spacious, as well as comfortable and quiet. Excellent value for money. The welcome was a bit cold and clinical, though and staff generally didn't seem interested, even as we left. I realise they will have been busy but a smile goes a long way.

The first thing we noticed when we got to our room is that it had no shelving: not a single place to put your clothes except the ones you hang. The second thing we noticed, when we looked out the window the next morning (we got in at night), was that our supposed "Garden View" room was instead a "Parking Lot View" room. This prompted the following priceless comment from the front desk: "Garden View rooms need not have a view of the garden." Then, at the end of our stay, wasps chewed a hole in the roof of our room and began entering one by one. The manager gave us £50 off our bill (on a room that cost £300 per night) for the wasps and another £50 for the parking lot view (after repeating the priceless line about Garden view rooms not needing a garden view). This is a beautiful property, with kind and friendly people at the front desk, but it is managed terribly - certainly not worth the steep price we paid. I wish we had stayed elsewhere and recommend that others do.

Hall's Croft is a building in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, which was owned by William Shakespeare's daughter, Susanna Hall, and her husband Dr John Hall whom she married in 1607. The building is listed grade I,and now contains a collection of 16th- and 17th-century paintings and furniture. There is also an exhibition about Doctor John Hall and the obscure medical practices of the period. The property includes a dramatic walled garden which contains a variety of plant life that John Hall may have used in his treatments. John and Susanna Hall later moved to New Place, which William Shakespeare left to his daughter after his death.
