Villa Kimia is located outside the charming Baroque town of Acireale, in an area renowned for agriculture and the cultivation of citrus fruits. Although located in a residential area, the house is surrounded by greenery in a peaceful quiet setting. The owners run a farm here specialising in organic pink grapefruit. The organic philosophy extends to the house designed by the owners who have preferred alternative energy. It lies between the sea and the slopes of Etna on a gentle decline at a height of 90 m, with the property enjoying the view of Etna with the sun setting behind it. The lands bordering Etna are fertile and the house boasts a land rich in citrus fruits, plants and aromatic herbs that fill the evenings with pleasant Sicilian scents. The house is a new structure built in 2006 on two floors with air-conditioned bedrooms, an independent kitchen and a big living area with large windows that open onto the garden with a large lawn and pergolas equipped with a dining table, barbecue and sofas. Surrounded by greenery is the fully-equipped swimming pool. The house is ideally located for exploring eastern Sicily. A few minutes away by car is the town of Acireale, with shops for basic necessities and numerous restaurants and bars, as well as attractive little narrow streets with churches and palaces that flaunt Baroque art. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, is only 20 km away with a wide choice of wineries and restaurants to visit and where you can taste the typical products of the area. Taormina can be reached in just over half an hour along the highway, or you can opt for the panoramic road that follows the marvellous Ionian coastline.
Interior:
Il casale è disposto su due piani collegati sia da una scala interna che dall’esterno. Dal disimpegno al piano terra si accede da un lato alla zona notte, che comprende una camera matrimoniale ed una camera doppia (con letti unibili) che condividono un bagno con doccia e una matrimoniale con bagno en-suite con vasca e doccia. Dall’altro lato si accede alla cucina ben attrezzata e a seguire l’open space con salone e zona pranzo, ben illuminata grazie alle porte finestre affacciate sul giardino. Dal salone si accede al bagno di servizio e alla zona studio su un soppalco. Una scala interna porta al piano seminterrato con un secondo ambiente che accoglie un’ulteriore cucina con forno in pietra per la pizza che potrà essere utilizzato su richiesta con l'assistenza di personale, zona pranzo e zona living con grandi porte finestre che portano al pergolato all’esterno. Su questo piano si trova la quarta camera matrimoniale, anch’essa con grande vetrata sull’esterno e bagno en-suite con doccia. Il locale della lavanderia completa la composizione di questo piano.
Park:
The area is known for its juicy and fragrant citrus fruits. The house is located within the farm managed by the owners who mostly grow pink grapefruit. The plantation extends over 9500 metres. Around the house is a well-kept, gently sloping lawn that connects the ground floor with the basement. These two floors have paved spaces with pergolas offering shaded areas for dining and relaxing. On the ground floor is a large dining table and a relaxation area with comfortable sofas and armchairs. On the basement floor is a second dining table under a pergola with mobile barbecue.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The pool area, bordered by dry lava-stone walls, typical of the area, hedges and a wooden fence, is located on the south side of the house, which is about 15 m away and can be reached from the French windows of the ground floor living room. The rectangular pool, measuring 7 x 12 m with the depth varying from 1,20 to 2,50 m, lined in PVC and with chlorine purification, lies in a corner of the garden protected at the back by a row of tall trees. Four steps at the shallow end give access to the water while, at the deep end, is a diving board and a metal ladder. Set along the tiled perimeter of the pool are sunbeds and umbrellas. Nearby is a cold-water shower with attached bathroom. The swimming pool remains open from the last saturday of April to the first saturday of October.
