「A true gem. This is my new go-to place for the first (and second) night in Cape Town. Most international flights arrive in the early morning and commercial downtown hotels do not let you check in before 3 pm. Most of us are exhausted. So make your way to Franschhoek against traffic and stop at some wineries on the way. Then rest at La Fontaine. Many fine restaurants within 0.5 miles. Lovely breakfast and exceptional service.」

「Stunning bedroom views from this lodge and exceptional service and kind attitude from Shannon ! Food was also great. It’s an older lodge that has been upgraded with excellent bathroom fixtures and main bedroom lighting. Wifi is a little slow, early morning hot water taps need to run a bit before hot water arrives and the sliding partition in our room 2 needs to be replaced with a frosted glass door as the current wooden sliding partition is a little stiff to open . Otherwise an excellent choice...

「Having stayed here in the past we were familiar with this beautiful property, its picturesque location and range of amenities so we chose to stay here again. Unfortunately there was no hot water when we tried to shower before bed and due to the location of the geyser (in the upstairs unit) it couldn’t be sorted until the morning. We were offered a room in the main hotel, but as it was late and we’d unpacked all our luggage so we opted to have a cold shower instead. The hotel graciously comped...

「The property is simply stunning. It’s so charming and the staff are wonderful. It’s a 20 min walk from the Main Street in Franschoek or a few pounds in an Uber. Don’t use the recommended car service from the hotel as it was 3 x more expensive than an Uber. Out toom eas lovely with a small kitchen are and separate dressing room and bathroom with both a huge bath and a separate shower. The buffet breakfast was lovely and the views even better! 」

「The property is enchanting, so well situated right in the heart of town but one block off the Main Street so nice a quiet, and the staff is cheerful and so helpful. 」

「Lovely people, comfortable, outside hottub was fab, breakfasts made to order, really large bathroom. The only thing was the tech which doesn't work and needs to be ditched. It's a gimmick which doesn't add to the experience- not pleasant having music in the room going on in the middle of the night having had no explanation of what to do to stop it. All in all though very much to be recommended.」

「Nuwerus was one of the "fortunate" yet "unfortunate" places in Paarl that was "hit" hard with the recent fires. It was so close to the main buildings that I can only descibe it as hair-raising. Yet although you can see the fire damage to the gardens etc the service was once again spot-on and the facilities as clean and well appointed as we are used to. The owners really does care about the customers as well as the property. Well done is all I can say. Already booked my next stay.」

「The accommodation is very beautiful in everything - rooms, pools, garden,… The Host was very nice and had good lunch/dining recommendations for us. The breakfast was really good and offered us a big variety. The room and bathroom was clean and pretty. There are enough parking spots. We would definitely come back when we are in Franschhoek.」

「We had a great three night stay at Les Chambres. Excellent location on a quite street in Franschhoek. Walking distance to everything and very safe. Great breakfast, stunning gardens, very nice communal areas with a lot of art work from one of the local gallery and very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable 」
