"Clean, friendly staff and lots of restaurants nearby! "

"The cottages are very cute and comfortable. Also the kitchen is well equipped. We made breakfast every morning. The owner of the property is very friendly, professional and helpful. He made a reservation for us at the sushi restaurant Iso no kari ,which was amazing and very authentic. Also the Slow pasta restaurant was very good. They both are 10-15 walk from the property. "

"Located only a few mins away from the pickup point for Jomon Sugi trail bus so it saves us alot of time in the morning. Staff were very friendly and helped us to pack lunch for our hike. The room came with our own private bathroom. Saw a couple of big spiders in the room but I suppose it is inevitable given the location."

"Got a bus stop right in front of the building which is great for catching early buses. Miyanoura is the busier area on the island but cant compare to cities, so its already quite good location with short walk to supermarket and restaurants in the area. We love the scenic views right from our room towards a river and mountain at the backdrop. Staff speaks limited English but sufficient to keep you served friendily. Note there are only stairs, ie not barrier free nor friendly for your fatigue legs...

"The owner Taketo san (and his family) is very nice and helpful. He is very informative about the Island and speaks good English. He told me about the interesting stuff in the Island and gave me very good suggestions to me when my original plans failed (eg. tours cancelled, ship schedule suspended, etc...). The food prepared by his wife Tomoko san was excellent. They aims to introduce you with the taste of Yakushima and provided detailed introduction to me before the meals. The room was...

"It was a great stays in Yakushima with minshuku Umikawa. Very near to the pier , bus station and supermarket! "

"Had a great stay here. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. The traditional japanese tatami room was nice to experience. Kentaro went out of his way to make us feel at home. We missed a bus that only comes around every 2 hrs and Kentaro appeared out of nowhere in his Van, was like "Hurry get on!" and we chased down that bus. Good times! Thanks Ken!"

"Great place to stay with comfortable rooms. Nice onsen / bath that is separate building but is literally a single step away. Only one toilet (at least on 1st floor) so you might have to wait on occasion. If you have no car, this place is ~12 minutes walk away from the Miyanoura area. Not a bad walk but can be annoying if raining or carrying luggage (particularly if both!). Overall, enjoyed my stay there!"
